* I thought as itβs Friday I would break with tradition of daft jokes and weekend quotes and tell you a wee storyβ¦
My name is LJ and this is (some of my life) in pictures.
As some of you know already I had a slightly unconventional upbringing.
My father was firstly in the Royal Marines (which he ran away from his home of Glasgow to join at 16, insisting to the powers that be that he was in fact 2 years older)
After 2 seven year stints of throwing himself out of planes, he joined the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and along with my mum and latterly my sister and I, toured the world.
We had posting after posting, school after school. I had 11 primary schools until I eventually went to boarding school at 11!
From the Far East to Europe and everywhere in between,
we Swam several seas and learned many languages and cultures. We loved it, hated it and eventually accepted it. It was our life and it was in the main a great one!
I believe travel both broadenβs and also narrows the mind. I think I have less confidence in myself as a result of not much security growing up, leaving schools and of course your friends to start somewhere new all the time can do that to a kid.
However, I do have great social skills and can swim like a frigginβ fish! π So itβs not all bad! π
