Where are the staff sleeping?
That question gets asked too late on many projects.
The site is mobilising.
Hotels are expensive or fully booked.
Workers are travelling too far.
Shift patterns change.
Remote-site logistics start becoming difficult.
Then someone asks:
Can we provide accommodation on or near site?
Modular staff accommodation can be a practical option — but it needs to be planned properly.
Staff accommodation is not the same as a welfare unit.
It needs to work as an overnight living environment, not just a cabin with beds inside.
Depending on the project, a modular accommodation setup may include bedrooms, bathrooms, showers, kitchens, dining space, laundry, drying rooms, lockers, heating, cooling, ventilation, lighting, external walkways, security and services.
The key question is not only:
How many beds do we need?
It is:
Can this accommodation safely and comfortably support the workforce every night for the duration of the project?
