You can chat with the printmakers, woodworkers, potters, jewelers, seamstresses, chefs and artisans about why they love what they do, and what makes it so special.

☀️ Summer Market Trader applications are now OPEN ☀️

I'm on the look out for 60 Northern creative small businesses, craftspeople and artists to fill the on the 2nd of August!

I would love to hear from printmakers, potters, jewelers, candle makers, florists, plant sellers, stationery makers/sellers, woodworkers, artisan food makers, artists, textile weavers and northern creatives.

You'll find all of the market info including price, pitch sizes etc on the application form, head to the made.upnorth bio to find the link!

Pitches are not filled on a first come first served basis, every application is looked at individually after the applications have closed to curate the market.

Applications will be open until 6pm Sunday 26th of April.

Can you believe that the upcoming Summer Market will be the 5th anniversary of hosting Made Up North events!

The market scene has changed so much over that time, and I'm so grateful to all the small businesses, artists and supporters who have been along for the ups and downs of the market 🧡

Made Up North is 100% independently owned and operated and will always aim to champion and support our talented northern crafts people, artists and creative small businesses.

☀️ If you fancy a summer market mooch be able to visit the market on the 2nd of August at the wonderful in Newcastle city centre ☀️

If you're interested in trading at the Summer Market applications will be going live at 10am on Monday morning, you'll also be able to find all of the market info too!

✨ With the Summer Market applications opening next Monday 13th of April, it's the perfect time to re share some application tips ✨

Everything below can be applied to most markets or events you might be applying to, not just Made Up North ones!

If you have any questions not covered, pop them in the comments below

✨ Make sure good examples of your work/products are easy to find - this could mean having a well stocked online shop, social media full of examples or a gallery of images on your website. And if you have them, make sure you have photos of your stall at other events on your website/ socials as it can really help the organisers see how you'll fit into their event!

✨ Be clear about yourself in your application - What do you make/ do? What medium do you work with? Don't be afraid to go into a little detail!
Instead of saying "I'm a printmaker." try "I'm a printmaker, specialising in digital drawings of the north east. With my newest collection focusing on Durham city." This will help you stand out from others who work in similar fields.

✨ Shout about your USPS!- What makes you stand out? Are you an eco-friendly business or do good in your community? Have you got work or products in any shops or galleries? Event organisers might not know of your business prior to your application, so let them know what makes you stand out from everyone else when applying.

✨ Check your links work and email is entered correctly. This happens so often, and can cause the event organiser to not see all of your work or be able to contact you!

Applying to markets can be really competitive so please don't feel disheartened if your application is not accepted, or if you have traded at an event and are not accepted again, it is not a reflection on your business but on the volume of people applying.

The Made Up North events operate on 60% existing traders and 40% new traders for markets, so there's always a good mix of old and new traders at each event!

Hello there 👋

Can you believe 2026 will be the 5th year of Made Up North events! I'm so proud of what my lockdown side project has grown into and can't wait to bring together some amazing northern creatives this year.

As it stands I'll be hosting two markets at the wonderful on Sunday 2nd of August & Sunday 6th of December. Trader application dates are still TBD but I'll hopefully be able to confirm them towards the end of march.

I just want to give a big thank you to anyone who has ever visited or traded at one of my markets, they wouldn't be possible without you! 🧡

To all of the 1291 people that came down to the market yesterday, thank you so much! Your support is so appreciated by myself and all the traders who attend the market, every sale, chat and positive interaction is felt so much this time of the year.

A hugh thank you as well to all of the traders who came along, the market wouldn't be possible without you, and I'm always blown away by how talented everyone is!
