Behind every bespoke kitchen is a level of thought, skill and craftsmanship that often goes unseen.

In our latest stories, we sit down with Rob Johnson, Production Technician at Mowlem and Co. to talk about the detail behind the design. From technical challenges to the problem-solving that brings a drawing to life, Rob shares an insight into the work that happens long before a kitchen reaches your home.

Hawkesbury. There’s more to discover. 🦌

One barn. One very particular brief. One kitchen we couldn’t wait to see come together.

Created by us for The Barn, Hawkesbury is perhaps best experienced rather than explained.

Hawkesbury. A first look. 🦌

There’s something incredibly emotive about a barn, the sense of scale, the rawness of the materials and the way it organically draws people together.

Created for Hamilford Design The Barn, our Hawkesbury bespoke kitchen is a study in considered design. A richly layered scheme of antique copper metal, reclaimed timber, deep, textured cabinetry, striking veined stone and a series of finer details.

For those who take a quiet pleasure in having everything in its place (and who doesn’t?).

A beautifully designed cupboard does rather make being organised feel like less of a chore. And what a joy to have all those everyday jobs contained within one dedicated space.

Here, the utility room has been designed around the everyday, generous cupboards for the things we all need, room for laundry and linens and plenty of space to keep the necessities out of sight.

Somewhere along the way, the details become the whole point.

Shelving that fits the room rather than simply filling a wall. Joinery made around the way you live, with every proportion, junction and finish considered.

Our furniture and joinery is made to last, both in how it’s built and how it feels in a home years from now.

Meet just some of the people behind Mowlem and Co.

It takes sharp eyes, strong opinions, a healthy obsession with detail, and quite a few people who care deeply about getting things right.

Our team brings together designers, makers and creatives. Some are all about the detail. Some can solve almost anything. Some have been here for years and know the workshop like the back of their hand.

Put them all together and you get something rather special. https://tinyurl.com/2zbe5em6

The new season, and what we’re seeing.

There’s a subtle shift happening in kitchen design. Less about following trends, and more about creating spaces with warmth, depth and personality.

Richer colours, deeper timber tones, characterful stone and cabinetry that feels more like furniture are all finding their way into the projects we’re working on.

We’ve brought together some of the ideas shaping our work in our latest stpries post.

Designing a kitchen for a client is always a privilege. Being asked back to design a second is something rather special.

This space was carefully designed around the way our client lives, making the most of a room with challenging angles and ensuring every detail felt considered from the outset through to installation.

Thank you for your thoughtful words and for trusting us with your home once again.

There’s a reason you don’t see curves like this everywhere. We however happen to like the challenge. 😉

They’re some of the most challenging pieces to design and manufacture, requiring precision at every stage. When they’re crafted well, though, they bring a softness and elegance that’s impossible to achieve any other way.
