Saturday morning breakfast pancake🌈

so lets get started ....

Ingredients:

1 cup all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup maple syrup, or 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 tablespoons coconut oil, melted and cooled slightly
1 cup vanilla almond milk or other non-dairy milk
1 tablespoon coconut oil for cooking
Natural Dyes (see notes for alternatives, I used wheat grass powder for green)

Other: Mini pans (I used Wilton to create uniformity, but you do the traditional method w/skillet)

Directions:
Whisk together the dry ingredients in a large bowl. Whisk the wet ingredients together in a separate bowl.

Add the wet ingredients to the dry and whisk until smooth. Don't over combine. With a measuring cup scoop 1/2 a cup and add the natural dye to achieve desired color.

Set the oven to 350. Grease the mini pans or heat a pan over medium heat/high heat.
Bake for 5-7 minutes or until firm. Allow to cool, then remove, or fry the pancakes for 2 to 3 minutes per side. Once bubbles start to appear, that means it's time to flip.

Pride: What is it and why do people celebrate it?
Pride is celebrated in the month of June, as that was the month when the Stonewall riots took place.

The Stonewall riots were important protests that took place in 1969 in the US, that changed gay rights for a lot of people in America and around the world.

Pride is a celebration of people coming together in love and friendship, to show how far LGBTQ+ rights have come, and how in some places there's still work to be done.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the first Pride march in the UK – a day when hundreds of LGBTQ+ people and their allies arrived in London to protest a society where we were not safe to be ourselves.

These brave protesters marched to Trafalgar Square despite fearing for their own safety. But they knew it was important that their voices were heard – and their actions that day paved the way for half a century of progressive societal change for LGBTQ+ people.

We have come so far since then.

50 years on, we can take pride in a United Kingdom where the majority of the public are supportive of their LGBTQ+ neighbours, work colleagues, family and friends.

Today, we live in a society where LGBTQ+ people can live openly and free, where we can form our own families and where our lives and history are taught in schools to the next generation.

But our hard-won rights are at risk.

However, we can’t take progress for granted. Throughout the past 50 years, the LGBTQ+ community has withstood numerous smear campaigns from those who wish to push us back into hiding.

These attacks continue today – with a noisy minority pushing intolerant rhetoric in our media and our politics. Without action, we are heading down the same path as countries such as the US, Hungary and Poland.

Join your local pride march for events, take your pets and family and be proud to be you !!

Lets find our more about this fabulous business that supplies us with handmade vegan products.

It’s time for an introduction. My name’s Magdalena Och and I’ve created OchVegan because I believe in a mindful and sustainable lifestyle. At some point, Remi became my partner in crime, amazingly helpful, and motivating. Our soaps are 100% vegan, made using only plant-based oils and butter, essential oils and botanicals, and then packed with minimalistic paper band An important note – you don’t have to be vegan to use our soaps!

Our mission is to promote veganism. Toiletry products had been invented to help us keep up with daily hygiene and then to improve the quality of our lives. But never at the cost of causing any harm. We profoundly believe that all the cosmetic companies share the same values, but maybe they are not perceived in the same way. To us, something labelled ‘healthy’, is expected to help us feel better in some way and must not exploit the Earth. At Och Vegan, we make sure that our planet stays beautiful and healthy, too.
It’s about the entire process of how we make and package our soaps and cosmetics. Firstly, we test them on ourselves. Brave? Nah, we know that what we put inside is safe and mostly edible. We go for wholesome ingredients, not settling for cheap substitutes. We firmly refuse to use any plastic. And even though it’s hard sometimes to find alternatives, we make it happen. We also believe that our products are cheaper than mainstream cosmetics. Although you might have to pay a bit more to buy our products, that will be it. We don’t hide any costs that would steadily increase our debt to Nature. That’s why we’re vegan and sustainable. For ours and our descendants’ happy lives!

We are here !!!!

SATURDAY 14th May FROM 11:00-15:00
Tyneside Vegan and Music Festival
Northumbria University

Come along and join us for this fabulous event....

1) we are dog-friendly (dogs on leads are very welcome to bring their guardians, we will have water bowls and two stalls dedicated to pooches)
2) we are children friendly - we have an activity table with Enhanced DBS cleared staff, with free squash and activities
3) we are vegan friendly (yes, we know, obvious but stick with us....) which means literally every food item in the festival we can eat - no asking 'is it suitable for vegans'. We will also have some vendors selling gluten free treats too.
4) our volunteers are friendly (ok, tenuous but all of us want you to have a fabulous day, making as much money as possible for our traders and charities while having a good day out). We will do our best to look after you.

Breathing
Yeah, okay, breathing is a necessity for life as we know it. But it’s also super important to practice for the purpose of connecting to my zen zone.

Soaking Up Sunshine
Get outdoors and soak up some vitamin D to make you feel Good!!

Turning off electronics
My favourite way to reconnect with myself and those around me is by turning off electronics.

Blaring the music and DANCING
DANCING in all caps doesn’t mean I’m shouting, it means I’m committed. In particular, I’m committed to zero care about how I look, and zero worries about how good the moves are.

Embracing little seasonal moments
I feel so fortunate to live in a place where seasonal moments are many, and all equally amazing for the soul.

Writing down whatever is inspiring
I think there’s something about writing things down. Handwritten notes that, whether for me only or even for someone else, make that writing meaningful.

Taking care of my body and mind
I do believe that what’s good for the body is also good for the soul

Traveling
There’s nothing quite like travel to open my eyes to new people, places, cultures, and experiences

Taking the scenic route
Sometimes, taking the scenic route is a great way to slow down and enjoy the ride. Especially in the summertime, when I love to roll down the windows and just driiiiive.

Being In Nature
To me, that’s being in nature. Listening to the waves crash. Feeling the breeze on a mountain top. Walking through a path in the woods. Anything in nature, to me, reduces stress and allows for me to feel more connected to both myself and the world around me.
