Hello everyone! 👋
I’ve been thinking a lot about storytelling lately. 🤔
My favourite story growing up was probably the Little Match Girl by Hans Christian Andersen. In case you’ve not heard of it, it’s about a little girl who’s alone on the streets on Christmas Eve, trying to sell her matches to passersby. It’s a pretty sad one, so make sure you’ve got a box of tissues handy if you’re planning on diving in! 😭
It always made me feel a lot of things, thinking about this little girl who didn’t have anyone around to protect her - I almost felt like I was right there with her, ready to reach out and grab her hand, tell her everything would be alright. And that’s what a good story is - not only do they make us feel things, and transport us to other worlds, but they can convey some really powerful messages. I believe that there are some stories that simply MUST be told.
I have been an advocate within a student rights organisation for three years now, and I believe strongly in not only standing up for what’s right, but making sure that I tell people’s stories the way they should be told.
So, how does this relate to poetry?? 🤯
I launched my bespoke poetry business because I know that I have the tools to tell your stories, the way they SHOULD, nay MUST, be told, to the people that need to hear them. I am passionate about making sure that each customer feels held, listened to and supported through the process of giving a really personal gift to someone they love very much. 💖
So, tell me - was your favourite story as a child? 📖
