For fresh colour in the garden, these three standout plants are looking particularly good now!

Hydrangea ‘Little Light’ - A compact Hydrangea with long lasting, creamy-white flower heads that add freshness and elegance to pots, patios and borders.

Helenium range - Rich, warm colours with masses of daisy-like flowers for late summer borders, and a favourite with bees and other pollinators.

Actaea range - Dramatic foliage and tall, graceful flower spikes. Adds height, movement and texture, in dark or green leaved forms.

Fresh In... Eucomis Aloha Nani ‘Leia’

A little taste of the tropics for your patio

Also known as the Pineapple Lily, ‘Leia’ produces exotic spikes of rich pink to burgundy flowers, each topped with a distinctive crown of leafy bracts. Flowering from August to October, its unusual blooms also release a sweet fragrance often likened to coconut.

With its compact, architectural habit, ‘Leia’ is perfect for sunny borders, tropical-style planting schemes and large patio containers. Grow in full sun and moist but well-drained soil.

Have you discovered Astrantias?

Also known as Masterwort, these beautiful perennials are brilliant for adding colour, texture and movement to summer borders.

Their intricate flowers are carried on slender stems, allowing them to weave naturally amongst neighbouring plants rather than creating a solid block of colour.

Our current collection includes everything from fresh white and soft pink through to cerise, ruby red and deep burgundy, with varieties including:

Astrantias are particularly effective planted in groups of three or five, or repeated through a border to create a natural drift of colour.

They're also long flowering, excellent for cutting and popular with bees and other pollinating insects.

Plant them alongside hardy Geraniums, Salvias, Echinaceas, ferns and ornamental grasses for a beautiful summer combination.

There’s something lovely about seeing outdoor spaces alive with bees and butterflies. Adding a few pollinator-friendly plants brings extra colour to your garden, and choosing flowers that bloom at different times of year helps provide valuable sources for a wide variety of insects.

These pollinators have been spotted around our garden centre, some of the busiest plants tend to be Allium, Buddleja, Echinacea, Nepeta, Salvia and Thyme (but also many more!).
