Landscapes, botany, movement in nature and fashion all inspire my flowers.

Eight years without dad. For the first year or so I would catch myself thinking about phoning him to tell him some good news or something funny. Even now I think, wouldn't it be nice to tell him what I'm up to, tell him about Field Notes and what a personal project it is, and how influenced I've been my him and mum. So it feels really nice to have a little bit of dad in the new shop. Some of his pictures and a beautiful new ply plinth made by Jake Mitchell out of a huge sheet of ply dad had stashed for years. He would really love that it's finally home 🤎

September is a good time for change. This month marks twenty years of Wildflower and I've been thinking about how it's evolved and how the world has changed. And how I've changed too. I love running the studio but have missed the connections made in the shop, the conversations, the recommendations, the friendships. Flowers have been a portal into so many of the things I love in life: plants, gardens, books, music, friendship, art... the list goes on. I started dreaming about a space without limitations, not a flower shop but a place to celebrate nature and creativity and beauty. Objects made by hands, books written by humans and objects to help bring nature into your life. A space for collaboration. And I've made it / am making it! Field Notes - coming soon

I'd waited a long time to visit Prospect Cottage. I was lucky to have parents who recorded Jubilee off channel 4 onto vhs for me and who gave me the book about Derek Jarman's garden when I was young. But I couldn't fully have understood the garden until seeing it in the context of Dungeness last week. I hope that those were the Paul Crampel geraniums I read about in Modern Nature on the garden bench 🤎

A day of plant worship Great Dixter Charitable Trust. My mind has been fully opened to all the possibilities. And my love of good conifers, validated.

I feel like you could visit this house a hundred times and you would still find sights unseen. Completely life affirming and a crucial reminder that creativity and beauty should be woven into the everyday.

Many good windows and doors at Sissinghurst Castle Garden NT. Even after a brutally hot and dry summer still so many pockets of beauty and atmosphere. And Vita 💛

Caroline & Jack.
Total dedication to, and worship of, one type of flower really works. But perhaps never more so, than with tulips. Tulips in Caroline's hand and tulips on every available surface .Towering local stems from Katharine Norris, more diminutive stems from Smith & Munson and slawa and palmyra from my garden.
