40 years ago dozens of artists and craft makers were creating new surfaces in the Arts Centre using fire and clay to bring life and colour to the walls. On Saturday 20th September there is a guided tour and talk at the Centre that explores the unique history of this site. https://newcastle-arts-centre.co.uk/heritage-open-days-2025/This is also a callout to those that worked here in the 1980’s to let us know your memories and help us complete a documentation of this project.

Digital Arts Projection Mapping Commission Opportunity with North Shields 800! 👇

As part of North Shields 800th anniversary, North Tyneside Council are commissioning a creative practitioner, digital artist or organisation to design and deliver a series of projection-mapped images and/or artwork for the December 2025 procession and finale event.

These installations will animate key sites along the procession route through the town centre and culminate with projections at the Fish Quay. They should add a sense of spectacle to the event, create moments of wonder, and highlight the town’s creativity in a memorable and accessible way.

💰 Fee is £10k
📆 Expression of interest window closes 12noon on 12th September.
