Dr Ceri Gibson, CEO Tyne Rivers Trust.

"The challenges of the Coronavirus meant we were not able to achieve all we had hoped for in 2020. We have however, continued to stabilise the toxic legacy from abandoned spoil heaps at the top of the catchment and improve the design of the fish pass on the Darden burn. In this Virtual Fisheries Forum, we welcome the Environment Agency’s Phil Rippon for an update on the work of the Fisheries Team in the North East Region. In addition to a catch up on recent Environment Agency projects in the area, Phil will provide a review of the Team’s work in 2020, with a forward look into key activities planned for the future.

This event offers a great opportunity for angling clubs, fisheries and those with a keen interest to learn more about the work being carried out in the North East region. It is free to attend and open to all, and we encourage you to notify any fishing friends or colleagues who may find this session useful

Welcome! You are invited to join a webinar: Virtual Fisheries Forum | North East Environment Agency Updates. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email about joining the webinar.

Dear Volunteers
We hope this post finds you well. Since our last Covid update we have been continuously monitoring the situation. Due to the current lockdown we have paused all practical volunteer tasks until further notice. The health of our staff and volunteers is paramount so we therefore feel that this is the best and safest option at the moment. We know this is disappointing for many so when it is safe to do so we will resume all our volunteer tasks. Please feel free to continue monitoring and enjoy the Wear and its tributaries when taking your daily permitted exercise and please continue to upload your photographs and keep us updated with what you have been doing during the lockdown. Do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions and we will hopefully see you all very soon. Stay safe folks .........
