St Oswald's Retail page will showcase the very best we have to offer across our regional charity shops, as well as our website & other online services.

Thousands of books are donated to us every month and we raise thousands of pounds selling them.

Sometimes, though, our shops don't have enough shelf space for every book 📚

So, in April 2024 we started using World of Books.

It's really simple: our amazing volunteers scan the barcodes of books, World of Books offer us a price and just like that, money is raised for the Hospice.

Last financial year, this raised £40,739 and in September alone, we made almost £4,500!

We're now looking for more volunteers to help sort, scan and pack titles for World of Books. It's a behind the scenes role but with impact 💛

We've:

💛Painted the store
💛 Expanded our womenswear range
💛 Swapped the menswear and womenswear sections around
💛 Added stylish new prints inspired by iconic fashion photography and designers

What hasn't changed?

For 40 years, St Oswald’s Hospice has been filled with people who care, support, fundraise, volunteer, shop, donate, cheer us on and help make what we do possible.

And while we couldn’t possibly squeeze everyone who has played a part into one reel, we wanted to celebrate just some of the people who make St Oswald’s Hospice the place it is today.

Do you live in Morpeth and have a few hours to spare on a Tuesday? 💛

Our Morpeth charity shop is looking for volunteers to join their friendly team. Tuesdays would be especially helpful, but we'd love to hear from you if another day suits you better.

You could be serving customers on the till, sorting donations in the back, organising books and DVDs or simply making the shop a welcoming place for everyone.

Our Gateshead shop has had a HUGE glow-up 🎨

We're thrilled to reveal this incredible artwork by internationally acclaimed artist Dan Kitchener ( DANK ), now towering above our charity shop on West Street.

It's been created as part of Gateshead Council's and Electrik Sheep Off The Walls project which aims to breathe new life, creativity and culture into public spaces.

When we opened this shop last year, we wanted to reimagine the traditional charity shop experience with a space that feels bold, bright and modern. Dan's incredible artwork captures that vision perfectly, we're really proud to have his art featured above our shop.
