I admit its difficult in December but the hedgerows are filled with abundant foilage and berries which make lovely arrangements.

The beautiful wedding of Will and Sophie at the stunning Hamswell House, near Bath. A truly magical day in every way.

We absolutely love a destination wedding, and what a privilege to be chosen to create the flowers for such a special occasion. A gorgeous setting, a wonderful couple and flowers everywhere. What more could a florist ask for?

Of course, none of it happens without a brilliant team. A huge thank you to my lovely Sarah, Lorraine and Ellice. My absolute A-team, who worked their magic to bring everything together.

And a special thank you to Bohemian Blooms, a lovely local flower grower who came to our rescue with some extra cosmos. Flower farmers helping flower farmers. I love that!

Will and Sophie, thank you for trusting us with your wedding flowers. It really was a joy to be part of your day.

If autumn were a flower, I think it might look rather like this.

Meet Beatrice, an orange ball dahlia with beautifully curled petals, packed into neat, rounded blooms. Just look at them bobbing in the breeze — that warm colour positively glows in the autumn light.

But there’s much more to Beatrice than a pretty face. Those long, sturdy stems make her a brilliant cutting variety, giving you the length to work with in bouquets and vase arrangements. Her beautifully defined shape adds structure amongst softer flowers and foliage, and that orange looks wonderful with burgundy, plum and copper tones.

She’s a generous flowerer too, producing blooms from midsummer until the first frosts. Exactly the sort of variety you want in your cutting patch when you’re still gathering flowers for those lovely autumn arrangements.
