Don't panic! There hasn't been an 'incident' at Market Arcade / Arcêd y Farchnad - Len and the guys from Anthony A Davies Ltd have been getting covered up for sandblasting inside a few of the units. The idea is to reveal the original Victorian brickwork in the shop interiors.
It's looking good too.

Another lovely afternoon chatting to the guys in the Mens Group at The Powerstation adult education centre in Cwmbran.

Today we looked at the influences on the growth of Newport which led up to the beginning of Market Arcade. We started with eight thousand year old footprints in the Usk mud - so it took a bit longer than usual.

We are pleased to say that we will be participating in Newport's Art On The Hill festival this year and proud to have the opportunity to exhibit work by Connor Holland.

For NMAG and the Heritage Centre at Market Arcade are showing work from young Newport artist Connor Holland, who has an architectural interest in buildings from around the area and beyond.

Fri 24 10am – 5pm / Sat 25 10am – 4pm / Sun 26 Nov 11am – 3pm


“Connor is 15 years old. He started drawing when he was 13. Connor is profoundly autistic so has very little communication and understanding of the world around him. Around a year ago he started drawing amazing buildings out of nowhere. He draws mostly from memory.“

Connor has had work exhibited in Cardiff City Centre, Penarth and different venues around Newport, and his work often features buildings and places from the area.
