Video Vault is a fictional Video rental shop brought back to life as a temporary exhibition and installation.
Video Vault isn't simply about nostalgia. It asks what happened to the experience of choosing, discovering and owning films when we moved from shelves of physical tapes to an almost limitless choice of digital entertainment.
Today, we can access almost anything instantly- yet having everything doesn't necessarily make choosing easier.
Video Vault is part exhibition, part time-capsule and part experiment in asking whether less choice might sometimes give us more of an experience.
And perhaps most importantly, it invites people to remember what it felt like to go and find something rather than simply search for it.
