DJI Mini 2 came in after a fairly serious disagreement with gravity. 😬

One arm torn off, pride slightly damaged.

A bit of Microsmith surgery later and it’s back in the air, hovering around the workshop like it never happened.

Admittedly, it’s still missing a few covers…

Naturally, a normal test flight wasn’t dramatic enough, so we gave it the full slow-motion, telemetry, cinematic comeback treatment.

New arm fitted ✅
Hover test passed ✅
Back in the air ✅

Little win in Tesco Pontypool today, and a handy tip if your phone ever completely freezes.

The lady in front of me was trying to pay for £85 worth of fuel, but her iPhone had totally locked up so she couldn’t access Apple Wallet. She was already filling in her details and was facing an extra charge because she couldn’t pay there and then.

I showed her how to force-restart it:

iPhone: Quickly press Volume Up, then Volume Down, then hold the Side/Power button until the Apple logo appears.

The phone restarted, her wallet worked again and she was able to pay for the fuel without all the extra hassle.

For Android, it varies slightly by manufacturer, but on many phones you can force a restart by holding Power/Side button + Volume Down together for around 10–20 seconds until it restarts.

Worth remembering, it might save you a bit of panic at the checkout one day!

Big news for Microsmith Electronics!

Can you believe it’s already been 3 years since we opened our shop at 31 Russell Drive, Malpas?

Today we’re very happy to say we’ve just signed a new 6-year lease, so we’re staying put.

It’s a big commitment, but also a big vote of confidence in the future of the shop. Thanks to our customers, friends, local businesses and everyone who has recommended us, we’re able to keep building something proper here.

Device repairs, refurbished tech and honest IT support, still here, and here to stay.

Here’s to the next chapter.
