Last week was first proper day on the water - all our fish was long eaten so I targeted pollack to top up the fish & chip supper draw of the freezer. Great days sport - 18 pollack and some big! Wrasse - 7 decent pollack kept- everything then returned
On to today - watching all the charts said the window of opportunity was this morning for perfect conditions on an early season bass reef I found thanks to the gannets last year. All rods set up with various lures - 60gr mirage mackerel jigs, ebbrox bomb squads and the savage V2 new mackerel pattern.
Lovely day trolling over the reef, a bit of jigging and a bit of casting
6 bass ! - 💪🏼👍🏼💪🏼👍🏼😊😊. All 47-56cm)
2 pollack that wanted to be bass in water under 10ft deep
And a first for the kayak and only 2nd I’ve ever had - a pretty big greater weever - trolling as the reef dropped away. I was in a wise old local man’s boat nearly 30yrs ago when I had my first one “best eating fish in the sea, he said,,, all they mostly do is sit on the sea bed and eat prawns 🦐 so tonight at the kernow kayak kitchen is a fresh and very local caught sea food medley
