I never really have to go looking for inspiration here.

It’s just there.

On the morning dog walk. In an old boat beside the Gannel. In the hedgerows, wet cobwebs, old rope, moss and all those little things you notice when you’re not really looking for anything.

I’ve lived in Cornwall all my life and I still stop and look.

I hope I always do.

Some things look better out in the wild. 🌿

These baskets seem strangely at home amongst all that moss, stone and water.

Perhaps it’s the rope.

Or perhaps I’ve just spent far too long looking at baskets. 😁

Wednesday evening in my happy place.

Music on and rope absolutely everywhere.

Cup of tea almost certainly cold by now. And me happily weaving away.

That’ll do nicely.

This was my kind of morning. 🍂

A weekend wander around Tregargus Mill.

Dog in the water and me poking around old stone and moss.

And a few Lovan baskets coming along for the adventure because… well, why not? 😆

Cornwall starting to turn autumny might just be my favourite time of year.

A LITTLE BIT OF MY CORNWALL. 🌊

Rope, baskets, sea, birds, coffee… and whatever else has found its way into my camera roll lately. 🎥

A little Friday collection of the things I love the most.

Have a lovely weekend.

And a question before you go…

If you had one perfect September afternoon in Cornwall, where would you spend it? 👇

I HAVE A THING ABOUT ROPE. 🪢

New rope. Old rope. Thick rope. Thin rope.

Some arrives beautifully clean and ready to work with.

Some has already had a considerably more exciting life than me. 😄

And every now and then, I get my hands on a bit that’s genuinely been out there doing its job on the water.

I love all of it.

Mostly because you can put a pile of rope on the floor and, with enough time and slightly sore fingers, end up with something like this.

A basket. A mat. Something made to be used.

That’s Lovan really.

Lots and lots of rope.

This is pretty much life at home at the moment. 🧺🍂

A good ol' walk with the dogs.
Boots coming off at the door.
Blankets being dragged out again.
Logs coming in.
Fire going on.

Naturally, dogs will always find the warmest spot in the house. 😆

I make my baskets to live amongst all of this.
To get muddy boots thrown in them, blankets bundled into them and logs carried about in them.

Nothing too precious.

Just part of home.

Apparently the beach knows what day it is. 😁

Happy Friday, folks.

Here’s to slower weekends, salty air and nowhere particularly important to be.

I think we can officially call it log basket season. 🍂

The logs are coming in, the evenings are getting cooler and I’m starting to think about lighting the fire again.

So I decided to test myself and make my sister-in-law Sammy a rather large log basket. 😁

85 metres of rope, my biggest weaving loom and one very tired right arm later… here she is.

Thankfully, it worked. 😂

When my arm stops aching, perhaps I should make some more?

What do you folks think?

WHY ROPE? 🪢

Well, log basket season is creeping up on us… 🍂

I do love a wicker basket. But this is usually where wicker and I fall out. 😁

Over time it can dry out, become brittle and eventually start to break.

Rope is a little more forgiving. It’s strong, doesn’t mind damp and is quite happy being filled with logs and properly used.

As lovely as a basket might look beside the fire, I’ve always thought it should earn its keep too.

That’s why I choose rope.
