Just under 2 minutes recording and time-lapse … the reality making time for these is almost 2 hours!
Designed and made using off cuts from previous handmade items so that no recycled cord goes to waste.
Beautifully unique with the mixes of colour, bringing vibrancy and fun to coffee tables and dinners.

They take a little longer to make due to organising all the left over cord and the measurements, but they are true to their time (with the offset of no calculated material cost) and a top seller at markets, totally adored.

Perfect for any room to add colour or slot in to an already colourful scheme. Giving South American vibes.

I have never been really into birds or bird watching.
Enjoying these quiet spaces, where you observe nature without disturbing, feels like a luxury in our fast paced world.
If we all slowed down a little more, maybe nature would have a chance to restore and start recovering.

In awe of nature.

Finding your preferred spot through the different perspectives offered through each viewing window is all part of the intrigue and exploring even in the tiny little space in the bird watching hut.

As humans, we don’t need much to relax our minds and bodies. Just tap into our natural environment.

The peace, wonder, and that ‘just being’ feeling that you experience from sit spots like these.
Watching wildlife in its natural habitat is priceless and really does feel like a luxury.

The scents from the flowers and eucalyptus in these trees will stay in my olfactory memory (nostril bank 😄) forever. Taking me back to this exact spot.

Jet lagged and so happy to be in Australia for the winter. Where I finished my Biophilic Design Certification.

Nose memory, odor-3 evoked autobiographical memory; is the powerful, direct link between smell and memory caused by the olfactory bulb’s proximity to the brain’s emotional and memory centres, the amygdala and hippocampus.
Scents act as long-term memory retrieval, consciously breathing through the nose helps encode, store and enhance memory recall.

Odor-Evoked Memory:
🧠 Brain connectivity ~ odours take a direct route to the limbic system, causing smells to be stored together with emotions, creating deep emotional memories. Harvard Gazette.
👃 Nasal Breathing and Storage ~ breathing through the nose helps solidify memories and moments. Karolinska Institutet.

Page 14, How we start to understand how spaces make us feel.

Nothing too grand, instead, making strategic choices that subtly but strongly enhance the environment and touch our senses.
Bring spaces to life in a peaceful way that allows our nervous systems to calm, our body to relax and our mind to breathe.

Some still think biophilic design is all about plants and daylight. There is much much more to it than that.


Here there are the obvious to the the trained eye; materials, warm colours and bringing varieties of colour and texture in, lighting is key, as is the layout and functionality of the space.
Organised flow, indirect lighting, geometric patterns, access to air flow and an outdoor space with prospect and refuge.
From small to big defined choices; looking closely to the frame above the bed you will see the scene illustrated, how it is unique to that destination and how it brings about joy derived from the sense of adventure.

Then, bring in the aromas in the room and the environment outside along the nature’s sounds.
Scents of the environment can really shift and set your mood. Evoke wonder, allow your shoulders to drop, your head to reset. Sometimes as soon as you enter the space.
For me here, it was that wonderful and comforting smell of rain from a storm approaching. The fresh aromas, alongside the bustle of wildlife coming to life after a storm has passed by.

These tiny little designs could make a huge impact.

I am currently reading a brilliant book, (not this one featured), it lends such an obvious perspective on matters, language and how we navigate life. A new perspective but one that I already felt in touch with.
It also weaves over the lessons I learned through the course over the winter on Biophilic Design.
