All set up at today's Warrenpoint Artisan Market alongside so many talented artisans and artists

I have lots of fun laser engravings and 3D-printed signs available, and always available for a chat about customised items. Why not call down and say hi?

Last summer, a full year ago, I lost my right Raycon earbud while out gardening. I searched for it, but to no avail.

This morning my mother found it embedded in a gravel path, scratched and scraped, looking more than a little worse for wear. It has been exposed to the Irish weather for over a year, trodden on, very probably sprayed with weedkiller, all sorts - I didn't hold out much hope for it...

However, I cleaned the contacts and charged it for a few hours - and it only bloody works! 😮 Sounds 100% too.

I am genuinely pretty astounded by that. I fully expected it to be toast! Good to have you back, little buddy. 👏💪

⚠️ Long post alert! ⚠️

I've not gone away, you know? I've just had an extremely busy couple of weeks (months) with work and commitments, and haven't had much time for social media. But I have been tinkering and bodging away as always in the background! My latest make (almost finished/sixth prototype 🤦‍♂️) is my pocket-sized toolkit.

At Makers Central the conversation with my amazing maker pals turned several times to every day carry items and Tom Jones blew my mind with his mini Knipex pump pliers. And then his pockets continued to empty - the man is like a tool piñata. And so off I went inspired.

I've long wanted a good EDC kit, but never found one which suited, so I've built my own. And things got pricey quickly. But I am okay with that, because this isn't meant to be a cheap gimmick; it's meant to be high-quality, reliable, used every day for all the little jobs that catch you outside the workshop. All the gear is held in magnetically and holds pretty firmly, but I have added the ability to press everything in a specific place to pop it out with ease. The whole thing is smaller in every dimension than my mobile phone and very similar in weight (the EDC kit is 20g heavier.)

There are some tiny tweaks left to make and one or two tolerances to nudge, but I am pretty happy with how this has turned out. Now I have to carry it with me for a couple of weeks and see a) what doesn't quite work like it should; b) what do I still find myself without.

Equipment:
XS Water Pump Pliers - KNIPEX UK
Atlas Mini knife - Böker
Mini-ratchet - 711L Design

The weak point of the whole project is the Parkside bits, but they are just a placeholder. So if you have read this far (fair play to you) I would like your opinion: What would be the best hex bits to add to my setup, balancing cost and quality?

I will say I lived in the moment; will say I am just useless at taking photos 🤦‍♂️

I had an incredible weekend at this past weekend seeing incredible demonstrations, meeting friends old and new, and maybe having a few beers here and there too, but apparently taking no photos at all apart from this one! 😱

Thank you to everyone we met over the weekend and who made it the most fun Makers Central yet. We genuinely had a blast throughout. 😁

While I don't have photos, I do have a few awesome things collected over the weekend that I will post about soon.

And we're on our way to once again!

Delighted to be heading back to this weekend to see my maker pals and catch up on all the crazy projects they have been up to. And to see all the awesome tools and gear that is being advertised.

This weekend is one I count down to with great excitement every year.

Between the pressures of parenting and working full time, I have found very little time for projects or skilling up since Christmas, but it was great to get a few hours yesterday to do some Fusion 360 design work.

I wanted a way to give my 3D prints a more appealing surface, as well as hide layer lines a little, so learning to create a knurled surface is definitely a skill that I will make plenty of use of moving forward.

I also wanted to design a nice way to package and store my 3D-printed coasters, which seem to have taken on a bit of a life of their own. I keep designing new models with different features and functions. But more on that later 🤣

It may have taken me a year, but my brass coin game on the B4 has improved somewhat. 🤣

This was my first time playing about with antiquing fluid to make the features pop too, and it is safe to say it won't be the last.

I am all packed up and ready for tomorrow!

I’ll be setting up shop at the Warrenpoint Artisan Market with a fresh batch of handcrafted pieces from the workshop. The weather is supposed to be good, so it’s a great excuse to get out, grab a coffee, and support local makers down by the lough. 🌤️☕

Make sure to pop by the stall and say hello—I’d love to see you there!

Every year a few of us head out to climb Croagh Patrick, and this time around I wanted to make something to mark the trip. Some engraved brass coins seemed like the perfect commemorative gift.

I presented them when I arrived at the top... about ten minutes after everyone else 🤣 Need to work on my fitness before the 2027 excursion!

And of course, there was the obligatory feed of pints in Westport after the descent.
