It is with great sadness that Widecombe General Store has to close with immediate effect, all stock is 50% off, everything must go including fridges and freezers, we will be open from 10am today and will continue to open until everything has gone. We would like to thank all our dedicated customers for their ongoing support, but due to the crisis that is going on in the country at present we have no choice.

We would like to thank all the support we have had from the local community in the last month, we have made the decision to keep the shop open

As you all know we have been open now for 2 years in April, it took us 16 months to get a post office for you which works really well, the way that everything is going at the moment with rising costs and not being able to get the necessity that people need it is not looking good, we have a policy to try and order in whatever people want but it is getting tougher and tougher.
Supermarkets are refusing to buy produce like tomatoes and fresh vegetables because of the cost, we are a small village store here for you and we have no problem with getting our fresh produce, but sadly people are not using us enough to stay open so therefore we have decided that if things don't pick up in a months time we are sadly going to have to close because we cannot meet the rise of energy prices due to lack of custom.
We have tried our hardest to bring something to this community as we are a part of it, if anyone out there has suggestions to keep this business going please come in and speak to us. I did not want to say this but I have to "use us or lose us"
