We are launching our first fundraiser tonight. This is to pay for our first years lease on the Quay so we can get up and running from next month. While we await our main funding for the building of the kiosk, we will be starting events as soon as possible. If you can spare us a few pounds we would be extremely grateful. We know money is tight for everyone so sharing this post would also be very much appreciated.

We’re excited to announce that all our foundation blocks are now in place and we’re ready to start work in September. If you haven’t heard of us, we’re a Community Interest Company based in Newton Abbot with the aim of providing support for anyone in the community who needs it through a range of funding, events, volunteering and work experience. The majority of our funding will be raised through our brand new purpose built food outlet which will be based at the beautiful Town Quay Newton Abbot. Hello all Quay Community followers. Apologies for the apparent lack of action, I can assure you there is a lot going on behind the scenes.
We have some exciting news regarding the planning and building of the new development at the Town Quay coming up... Stay tuned!
In the meantime we're organising several community based events. We are planning a litter pick in July in which we aim to get as many people as possible to come out, have a lovely walk along our beautiful River Teign while collecting as much of the litter and waste that blights our beautiful area as we go. We'll be providing breakfast, refreshments and all the equipment like gloves, grippers, and recyclable waste bags to make it a truly enjoyable, positive and Community bonding experience. We'd love you to come and join us in not only enjoying our beautiful river and it's wonderful wildlife and environment, but do something positive to protect this natural beauty from pollution and litter. We'll have full details of the event available shortly, but in the meantime if you'd like to take part or know more just drop us a message.

Quay Community is being set up as a Community Interest Company to serve the local Newton Abbot area and visitors to the Town Quay. As a Community Interest Company, we aim to promote Health and Wellbeing by promoting healthy lifestyles and reducing social isolation. We aim to encourage a sense of ownership and responsibility for the local area through social groups, community projects and through working with other local organisations and charities.
During the covid crisis it became apparent that there is a great community spirit in the area. The Quay area is a hub for this community and strong social bonds have developed. We recognise the importance of the area for the community and the need to provide better services, activities, and resources.
We are expanding the facilities available at the Town Quay by building a brand-new catering kiosk and providing covered seating and an accessible toilet. We will be offering various activities including bicycle and kayak hire, and pods. The pods are enclosed units, suitable for various social and community events and can be booked for private functions. They can be heated and will provide an all-weather comfortable environment to enjoy the Quay area.
In addition to the facilities at the Quay we have office space a short walk away in Quay Road. This office space is not only our base of operations but will provide an office resource for local groups and individuals who may have little or no access to this type of resource. It will provide computer and internet access along with support and advice.
We are currently seeking funding for the first stage of our development. We are approaching various funding agencies including the National Lottery Community Fund. Our plans have the backing of Newton Abbot Town Council, who have provided full plans for the building of the kiosk.
