Another piece of the Materia Medica collection has headed off to it's new home, and this time, it feels beautifully full circle. Self Doubt has found its person.
Reflecting on the journey of this collection brings up so many emotions. It was exactly this time last year, my bottles were getting ready to make their very first debut at the Royal Ulster Academy (RUA).
I remember it so vividly. I was full of Imposter Syndrome, wondering and worrying about how they would be received by the world. Never in a million years did I think they would connect with so many people!
I am humbled by all who have bought these pieces and appreciate the connections made to them. How wonderful to see how art can help with healing on so many levels.
Creating these pieces helped me process my own self doubts, imposter syndrome & vulnerabilities and seeing them resonate so deeply with others has been the ultimate remedy.
A small selection of the collection is currently on display at the Foyer in the fabulous Flowerfield Arts Centre in Portstewart.
I am presently creating new Materia Medica pieces which will be heading to Gormleys Gallery in Belfast Lisburn Road in early 2027 as part of the exhibition.
