The Belgian Project

The Belgian Project Contact Dany Tel: 0044 (0)7396520670 email: [email protected] What is the Belgian project about .. to develop these lads to the full!

it's about giving young cycling talent a chance of race in Europe ( Belgium) to gain valuable experience. This includes staying with guest families or supervised accommodation ..many friendships have been formed over the years...We select our graduates (between 4-6 each year ) during the first 6 months of the season We also give small bursary's (14 in 2019) to young riders who race abroad and pr

omote Irish cycling. We put these graduates in the ultimate shop window of cycling (The Flanders) We have achieved pro status for some or full-time riders ..many get invited back, and have or race for local top amateur teams since the start in 2008. We also have a media team who report on races through photographs, videos, and interviews, also doing event commentary on requests.. to highlight our independent sponsors and promote Irish cycling to the full. We are independent ..we can not be influenced by money donations (but gratefully except ) we work with volunteers who give up their free time to help out at stage races, etc.. We get advice from big names in the sport and coaches .. We are an all welcome project ..no matter who you are, what you believe in ..your legs will do the talking. We get supported by many local clubs in N-Ireland and local sponsors, but always look for added support from new sponsors...All our volunteers including principals are vetted (Child protection ) We select from all corners of Ireland and the Ulster regio (17-23 years old) ... As Bike Pure ambassador all our selections need to sign the "Code of Honour " LIVE THE DREAM " is our motto

(Part 1 of 2) The 2026 Carn Classic promoted by Carn Wheelers which was also part of the Cycling Ulster Masters League. A sunny day, still chilly in the shadow, but at least a bit better then the last week!! 4 separate races, only about 15 C1's, but the other races a bit more healthy looking nrs wise...early starts means also early home, as everything was finished by 12 noon, so I could do my report in the afternoon...no accidents is already a win, great craic at the finish line, and a decent crowd too. A 1 minute silence was held before the races started, a great gesture to acknowledge the sudden death of first year Junior Shane O'Brien from Fermoy cycling club, tragically killed on a training ride in Waterford last Monday 15 June, and was racing for Cams Majaco GB. May Shane Rest in Peace. Results will appear in part 2 asap. A great event promoted by a great club in South Derry, yours in sport, Dany B & Jerome

The "Ards Town Centre Criterium incorporating the Cycling Ulster Crit Champs 2026 was held yesterday evening (17th June) in pleasant weather circumstances, nearly hundred cyclist, big crowd for a Wednesday evening, and plenty of volunteers to execute a safe evening of racing. The mood was low due to the fatal accident of talented Fermoy cycling club (Co Cork) junior Shane O 'Brien ( 17 years old) who raced this year for junior team Camsmajaco GB. We held a minute silence before the senior & junior race to express our feelings and heartbreak for the family O'Brien and his brother Liam who races for world tour team Lidl-Trek in the Baby Giro till yesterday, and be called home... just not right and so unfear, rest in peace Shane. Podium photos Jerome Mc Namara, and back ground photos of yours truly, David McVeigh was also present and his photos including winning photos sometime today..the link will appear here as soon we get them, so the results. Big thank you to Ards and North Down Council for the support and sponsorship, Formation Works and Black Quay Consulting for the extra sponsorship, and Caffola Cafe Newtownards for the Ice cream for the kids, and the coffee for the volunteers, St Johns Ambulance, the PSNI for the traffic management, all volunteers and the riders off course, yours in sport, David, Jerome and Dany B (Belgian Project Media Team)

Results of the Irish Para-Cyclist in Maniago Italy courtesy of RTE yesterday (TT tandem, handcycling and individuals)
Katie-George Dunlevy and Linda Kelly took home the gold medal!!
The reigning world champions finished 0.75 seconds ahead of bikes from Great Britain and Italy respectively.
In their first year of competition together, Sinead Greenan and Alice Sharpe finished fourth in the WB category.
Other Irish medal success saw Heather Jameson (WC2) and Richael Timothy (WC3) take bronze in their respective categories.
A crash for Steve McGowan saw a strong start to the TT hampered, as he took 15th in the MH3 category. Allister MacSorley brought his hand bike home fifth in the MH4 class.
Recent World Cup medallists Damien Vereker and Mitchell McLaughlin took 8th in the MB category, while Ciaran O'Toole and Con Scully took 15th.
