Review - WPG Golf Jacket (plus a discount code at the end)
 
Not something I’ve ever done before but I was so impressed with this new waterproof golf jacket that I felt compelled to share with you all my thoughts and see if I can’t help get a little more interest for this new business.
 
Just to be completely clear.  I bought this jacket with my own money.
 
First off I despise playing golf in a waterproof jacket, I always find the material weird and the fit is always restrictive.  I have yet (until this point) found a jacket I can swing freely in.
 
Styling.  A really classic silhouette with minimal  branding.  Perfect on the course and just as wearable off it
 
Fit.  This is where this jacket for me sets itself out from the crowd.  The fit is loose but stylishly cut.  A draw cord on the waist means you can let it hang loose or synch it in.  Elasticated cuffs ensure minimal fuss, and a hood is stowed away around the collar should you need it. 
 
Performance.  Thanks to the excellent way in which this jacket is cut it is incredibly comfortable and never feels like it restricts your swing.
 
Sizing. The jacket comes up large.  I am usually a large (erring on XL in some brands), in this the Medium is a perfect fit, the arms and body are just the right length and there is no restriction around the shoulders on full swings.  So as I say, it is the most un restrictive jacket I’ve ever played in.
 
About the business. These guys are based in East Lothian, Scotland so know a thing or two about playing golf in inclement weather, are new on the apparel scene, and I really do believe they have a killer product here.  
 
So there you go.  I’ve played a lot of golf and got wet a lot for my loathing of waterproofs, but this jacket has completely changed my outlook.

Some personal favourites from 2024.

Not always about the best courses you play but the people you play with. I played a lot (maybe too much) competitive golf in the summer, but it was great to also get some rounds in with my eldest and also friends new and old.

We had a day for it last weekend at

The course was in stunning condition. The biggest advancements in the last couple of years has to be the areas from green to tees and the walkways. Lots of natural areas re introduced, turfed walkways and vastly improved drainage.

The fairways were an absolute joy to play off, firm and crisp still with just a hint of forgiveness.

It won’t be long and I’ll be back there again.

As for the golf, well as is now my trend a tale of two nines.

2 under front nine with birdies on 5,7&8.
Still 2 under stood on 12. And this is where this course bites me these days. A run of bogey, double, bogey now stood on the stunning 15th and the round was in danger of getting away from me. I steadied the ship with an excellent par. But a duffed chip on 16 and a 3putt on 17 and I limped home in +4..

Another fantastic junior open event this time at the stunning

The event was professionally run, the welcome was second to none and the course was in great condition. The rough was up, which meant precision was the order of the day.

Great for these juniors to be able to experience these courses at their age and at such a great price.

One of my favourite places to play golf.

Unfortunately the fog had other ideas and cut the event short to 18, but nonetheless it was still an absolute joy to play 18holes off the blue tees.

The course was in incredible condition, the rough was up but the course was fair. Good shots were rewarded and poor shots punished, just as it should be in my opinion.

A 1 over par 73 is a decent way to build confidence ahead of a busy stretch of golf over the coming few weeks.

And back down to scratch (for the time being anyway!😂)
