While we may think it has been warm enough to grow cocao in the UK in recent weeks, sadly, the trees don't like our climate in the UK.

This week is slightly cooler and I'm rushing to send out chocolate orders while their risk of melting in transit worries me less.

This picture is clearly of me looking my absolute best on the Jurassic coastal path the day after my last walk for Cancer Research UK

A huge thank you to everyone who sponsored my walking activities over the last few weeks..

I'm blown away by your support and so far you have helped me raise £2,286.25 (the odds and sods are due to gift aid).

My objective in all this, if we can find the silver bullet, is ultimately to put all the oncologists out of work. Wouldn't that be great!!

In the meantime, if I can help raise funds by walking, wearing pink or whatever, then I will.

Announcing a short interlude while the weather is HOT HOT HOT!!

While it's too warm to put chocolates in the post - honestly, you'd be pouring them out of the box at the other end - I shall be doing the kind of things you are too. Planning for Christmas (maybe you're not quite there yet 😉), going for walks, convening with nature, eating ice cream and sightseeing.

It won't be long though before it's cool enough to post your chocolatey treats to you again. So starting thinking about what you'd like xx

Well, that's half marathon number 1 done! Next Saturday, I'll be attempting my second in Corfe Castle. All part of this year's Big Hikers 2026 for Cancer Research UK

It was a fabulous day and I was proud to have completed today's walk in under 4.5 hours. And no, it wasn't a 'race!!' But those of you who know me will understand that I can't dawdle on a walk like that. Well, it was fast for me!!

Today I'm walking the first of my Big Hikes for Cancer Research UK - I'm at the halfway stop - a cup of tea and a little pot of jelly babies 👶

It's a beautiful day and there are so many walkers out today raising lots of money for a good cause.

Following the huge success of last year, which saw Mercatum named in the UK press as one of the top ten Christmas markets in the country, this year’s event promises to be bigger, better and more captivating than ever, taking place over a 6-week period, from 11th November – 20th December.

As in previous years, Mercatum 2026 will take place in the beautifully decorated rooms, galleries and courtyard of Medieval Haddon. Over 750 talented artisans and makers will showcase their work over six weeks, with artisans changing each week, creating a luxurious and unique Christmas shopping experience. You’ll find a diverse range of crafts, including ceramics, art, chocolates, jewellery, candles, artisan stationery, perfumes, and much more, both inside and outside the Hall, all set against a truly festive backdrop.

As you explore medieval Haddon Hall, you’ll discover magnificent Christmas trees, twinkling lights, live music, warming food and drink, and a truly magical atmosphere that has made Mercatum a highlight of the festive calendar.

• Morning sessions (9.15am – 12.45pm)
• Afternoon sessions (1.00pm – 4.30pm)
• Green Travel tickets (arrival any time before 3.45pm, travelling by bus, bike or on foot – you are welcome to stay all day!)

This weekend June 6 and 7, will be my final outing with my chocolates before I slow for the summer when hopefully the sunshine comes back and you eat ice cream.

You will find me at the fabulous Delapré Food Festival in Northampton. I will be amongst the artisans stalls which opens from 10am each day, closing at 5pm on Saturday and 4pm on Sunday. There are exciting events continuing into Saturday evening too.

All my boxed and bagged truffles will have a 5% price reduction especially for this event and 10% of every £1 of everything I sell will go to Cancer Research UK

June, for me, is all about raising some funds for Cancer Research UK

12 months on from the completion of the main parts of my treatment for breast cancer, I'm fit and well and am putting my boots on to walk 2 separate half marathons as part of the Big Hike for Cancer Research UK

It's Cheese Fest Time!!

It's this weekend (May 23rd and 24th) at Melton Mowbray Market

Bring a cool bag or box with you to protect your purchases of chocolate (and cheese 🧀) from the heat this weekend.

And I understand there's a bit of a bun-fight for space amongst the traders this year because there are just so many cheese makers coming this year. So it'll be good!!

And of course I'll be there with my handmade chocolates - just on Saturday 23rd, mind you. This time you'll find me, I'm told, in the big hall which opens into the theatre area.

Yes of course chocolate pairs with cheese. If you're not convinced, come and try it out for yourself!
