🎉 20 YEARS OF GARRION BRIDGES 🎉
PART 3 — HERE’S TO MANY MORE YEARS! 🥂
If you’ve been following our 20-year journey, you’ve seen where we started, some of the changes we’ve made, the events we’ve held and a few of the memorable moments along the way.
But what about the last 10 years?
Well… we’ve certainly kept ourselves busy! 😂
And there have been some pretty memorable moments along the way…
🎨 AND THEN CAME THE MURAL…
In 2021, Garrion Bridges got a pretty spectacular makeover outside too! 🎨✨
Our huge mural was created by Scottish artist Neil G. Smith, also known as Arttoon, and stretches an impressive 25 metres wide by 4 metres high!
Inspired by the beautiful landscape of the surrounding Clyde Valley, the mural features the bridges and scenery that make the area so special, bringing a huge splash of colour to the side of the building. 🌉🎨
It certainly makes Garrion Bridges a little hard to miss! 😂
☕ CAFÉ DU JARDIN
One of the things we’re most proud of is our beautiful Café du Jardin, which has become such a special part of Garrion Bridges. ☕🌿
It’s become a favourite place for customers to stop, relax and enjoy a little something while visiting the centre.
But of course, it’s not just the building that has made Garrion Bridges what it is…
It’s the people — and even some of the little characters along the way! ❤️
🦎 MEET LEONARD
One very special character was Leonard, our much-loved lizard.
Leonard arrived at Garrion Bridges in 2007, when a company that sold fish within the garden centre brought her in.
And here’s the funny part… Leonard was actually a girl! 😂 But by then, everyone knew her as Leonard, so the name simply stuck!
When the fish company eventually left, Leonard stayed right here at Garrion Bridges and became a much-loved member of the garden centre family.
She lived here until 2016 and was adored by staff and customers alike. Regular visitors would always ask about her, and she became one of those special little characters that people remember long after they’ve gone.
Leonard may have been small, but she certainly left a big impression. ❤️🦎
🎤 AND WE’VE HAD SOME RATHER UNEXPECTED VISITORS!
Recently, Elvis came to perform in our afternoon tea room — and he’s even coming back in October 2026! 🎤🕺
And we were also delighted to welcome Mark Cox (aka Tam from Still Game!) to Garrion Bridges. ⭐
But despite all the changes over the last 20 years, there are some things that haven’t changed at all…
You might have noticed our Mr & Mrs sitting outside the centre.
Well, they’ve been there since before we even opened — and they’re still there today! ❤️
When we look back at everything we’ve shared over the last 20 years, we’re incredibly proud of how far Garrion Bridges has come.
From a banana factory in 2001, to the Garrion Bridges you see today…
20 years of hard work.
20 years of memories.
20 years of amazing people — and some very special characters.
20 years of Garrion Bridges. 💚💙
And most importantly…
❤️ THANK YOU. ❤️
Thank you to every customer who has walked through our doors, supported us, shared our posts, visited us over the years, brought their friends and family, and helped make Garrion Bridges what it is today.
We genuinely couldn’t have done it without you.
Here’s to the next chapter…
