This World Book Night, we’re celebrating the power of stories - and how they can make a real difference for children receiving care across Northumbria Healthcare.

Through the Once Upon a Magical Moment fundraiser, created by Helen and Erin, kind donations are providing books for young patients in our hospitals.

A book can offer comfort, calm and a welcome distraction, helping children feel supported during what can be a worrying or overwhelming time.

Every donation helps us put books directly into the hands of children who need them most - bringing moments of kindness, familiarity and a little bit of magic 💙

Good morning everyone 😄

We’ve had lots of new followers recently, so we just wanted to say a huge thank you for being here and take a moment to reintroduce ourselves ❤️

On 28th January 2026, myself, Helen, and Erin started this fundraiser to support Bright Northumbria Healthcare Charity.
Our goal is to provide books and activity packs to children across ALL of Northumbria Healthcare’s children’s services, from A&E departments right through to CAMHS.

We truly believe that reading can offer comfort, calm, and a much-needed distraction for young patients and their families, helping to ease stress and anxiety during what can be very difficult times.

Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is an incredible service, and we feel so lucky to have such dedicated healthcare teams supporting our community.

So far, we’ve raised an amazing £2,301.04 which is just incredible! 💖

We’ve also been overwhelmed by the kindness of local businesses and individuals who have donated book bundles to the wards. And we’re so excited to share that our very first book drop has already made it onto the wards such a special milestone for us ✨

So we are having our first collection tomorrow!! Wow so im popping every single businesses that has sponsored up-to-date on these books!! (There's are just some of the sponsored bundles too....we haven't even started on the others yet so please bear with us tomorrow if we're overwhelmed by people's generosity for this amazing cause)

We started out on the 28th jan 2026 and we are only 8 weeks in!!

So everyone please give yourselves a huge round of applause as YOU have done this!!!! And wow how amazing that these books are going to be distributed throughout the childrens services in Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust from tomorrow.

Tomorrow is the day when children, young people and their families have more access to understanding, comfort and less anxiety from these books.
