Blade two was a little easier. I learnt that my problem isn't just with drilling straight, it's also to do with sawing straight... This time the hole I drilled was definitely more perpendicular to the top face of the blank. Unfortunately, that top face was skewed. But it was all correctable - though I ended up with a slightly narrower handle than I'd planned.
In other news, I managed to find a use for the largest tree pearl I've found to date. Doug was with me when I found it. He was duly interested, and perfectly reasonably, asked me what I was going to use it for. Later THE SAME DAY I came up with the plan to make it into a sheath. Sorry, Adam Ashworth, it now looks like you make potato knives!
