A MOMENT HELD FOR NEPAL 🇳🇵
Today, we let our singing bowl ring a little longer
The news coming from Nepal has deeply saddened me. I found myself restless through the night, thinking about the families, the children, the communities and the unimaginable worry and grief that so many are carrying.
Nepal has been woven into my life for many years.
Long before Glass House Living, my previous shop, Namaste House, was fiercely driven by my love of Nepalese imports, traditional craftsmanship and, most importantly, the people and small artisan communities behind them.
I still buy from Kathmandu today, and when I look around Glass House, I don’t simply see singing bowls, jewellery or beautifully handmade objects. I see the hands that made them. I think about the homes they came from, the families they help to feed and the generations of knowledge and tradition held within them.
At present, circumstances mean that imports are unable to leave Nepal. I have managed to make contact with Thijs , one of our importers living in the Netherlands, I am awaiting an update on the community of Families in Patan, who over the years has supplied us with pieces made with heart, heritage 🙏
