GIANT 33″ RAPALA LURE / DISPLAY LURE – SHOP DISPLAY

In very good condition. This impressive Rapala giant lure measures approximately 33″ overall, including the rear double hook, and makes a striking display piece.

Designed as a promotional and display item, these oversized Rapala lures replicate the classic profile of the brand’s well known patterns, scaled up to create a bold and eye catching feature. They are often seen in tackle shops, fishing lodges, or used as decorative pieces in angling themed spaces.

Well made and visually distinctive, this example presents nicely and would make an ideal addition to a fishing room, man cave, or display area. It’s the sort of piece that immediately draws attention and reflects a passion for lure fishing.

A great and unusual display item, perfect for the angler who already has everything.

COLLECTION OF ASSORTED VINTAGE ANGLING ACCESSORIES (TINS / BOXES / SPOOLS ETC)

In very good condition for their age and in full working order. A charming and practical collection of traditional angling accessories showing only honest signs of use.

This assorted group includes a mixture of vintage tins, small tackle boxes, line spools and other traditional angling items, many of the types that would once have been found in every angler’s tackle box. Pieces such as these were used for storing split shot, hooks, swivels, line and other small essentials required for coarse fishing.

Many accessories of this type were produced by well-known British tackle makers and suppliers during the mid to late twentieth century and today they carry a certain nostalgic appeal among anglers who appreciate traditional tackle and the history of the sport.

Collections such as this are becoming increasingly difficult to assemble as individual pieces are often lost or discarded over time.

A nice mixed lot of vintage angling accessories, ideal for collectors, traditional coarse anglers, or for display with classic tackle.

RARE – HARDY CURATE / DISGORGER / PRIEST OIL BOTTLE ETC

In very good condition for its age and complete with Hardy stamp. This ingenious Hardy accessory measures approximately 6 1/2″ in length and remains a fascinating piece of early angling equipment.

The Hardy “Curate” is one of the more unusual and collectable accessories produced by Hardy Brothers of Alnwick during the early part of the twentieth century. Designed as a compact multi-purpose angler’s tool, it cleverly combines several useful functions into one neatly engineered piece.

The tool incorporates tweezers with cutting blades for trimming gut or line, a disgorger for removing hooks, and a small oil reservoir within the handle which can be accessed by a screw cap. The handle itself also serves as a priest, making it a highly practical item for anglers of the period who preferred to carry minimal equipment while fishing.

Hardy Brothers became world famous for the quality and innovation of their tackle, and accessories such as the Curate demonstrate the company’s ability to combine clever design with practical functionality.

Because relatively few of these tools survive today, particularly in good condition and clearly stamped, they are now increasingly sought after by collectors of vintage Hardy tackle.

A rare and interesting Hardy accessory, equally suitable for display in a collection or for practical use by the traditional angler.

RICHARD CARTER THE “BERNARD VENABLES” 4 1/2″ AERIAL CENTREPIN REEL – LIMITED EDITION No24/100

In very good condition, appearing unused and in full working order.

This is a limited edition Richard Carter “Bernard Venables” Aerial centrepin reel, numbered 24 of 100. Produced in England by Richard Carter of Traditional Angling Products in the late 1990s, this reel was created in collaboration with, and endorsed by, the late Bernard Venables, one of the most influential figures in British coarse fishing.

Best known to many as the creator of “Mr Crabtree,” Venables played a major role in popularising traditional angling during the twentieth century. This reel was intended as a genuine tribute to his legacy, rather than simply a commemorative nameplate model.

Although originally planned as an edition of 100 reels, it is widely accepted that fewer than 100 were actually completed, adding to their scarcity and desirability among collectors today.

Built around classic Aerial principles, the reel features traditional plain pin construction with a beautifully free running spool and precise machining throughout. Carter reels are well known for their engineering quality, combining period correct styling with modern tolerances and reliability.

Richard Carter centrepins have developed a strong following among traditional coarse anglers and collectors, and the Bernard Venables edition remains one of the most sought-after models from his production.

A scarce and highly collectable English centrepin reel, combining traditional design, historical association, and genuine fishing usability.

PAUL COOK “FRED CROUCH” “BARBEL PERFECTION” 11′6” SPLIT CANE ROD

In very good condition. This Paul Cook “Fred Crouch – Barbel Perfection” 11′6″ split cane rod presents beautifully and is complete with detachable cork handle, knurled nickel silver reel slides and butt cap, lined butt ring with agate tip ring and low-bell rings throughout, green silk whippings with full intermediates, nickel silver ferrules, hardwood rod stopper, and original Paul Cook fitted rod bag.

The “Barbel Perfection” was produced as part of Paul Cook’s tribute series honouring Fred Crouch, one of the most respected traditional barbel anglers of his generation. Crouch was known for his refined rivercraft and insistence on balanced, purposeful tackle, and this rod reflects that ethos — combining authority with sensitivity in a classic split cane format.

At 11′6″, the Barbel Perfection offers increased reach and line control over shorter stalking rods, making it particularly well suited to medium and larger rivers. The additional length aids float control, rolling meat tactics, and light legering in stronger currents, while the progressive taper retains the fluidity and cushioning that define fine cane barbel rods.

Paul Cook is widely regarded as one of the foremost contemporary makers of traditional coarse split cane rods. Each rod is hand built and finished entirely by himself, using carefully selected cane and sympathetic tapers that respect mid-century British rod design while offering modern consistency. His rods are produced in small numbers and have developed a strong following among anglers who value craftsmanship and heritage.

The green silk whippings with full intermediates reflect the traditional aesthetic and the considerable time invested in its construction, while the nickel silver fittings and detachable handle add both elegance and practicality.

A beautifully executed and highly usable split cane barbel rod, combining Fred Crouch heritage, Paul Cook craftsmanship, and classic river performance in an increasingly sought-after configuration.

OLD SCHOOL RETRO – ASTWOOD BREAD PUNCH

In new unused condition and complete with the original packaging. This old school, retro Astwood bread punch is a traditional bait preparation tool used to cut neat, consistent discs of bread from a slice, ready to mount on the hook for classic bread punch fishing.

Bread punch remains one of the most effective cold weather methods for roach and silver fish, and it will also take plenty of bonus fish such as chub, skimmers, and bream when fished correctly. A dedicated punch makes the job quicker and far more consistent than tearing bread by hand, producing clean, uniform hook baits that sit nicely on smaller hooks.

A great little throwback accessory, ideal for the traditional coarse angler, or for anyone building a vintage-style tackle kit, with the added appeal of being unused and still in its original packaging.

EDWARD BARDER (BERNARD VENABLES) LANDING NET + HANDLE – c2004

In very good condition, having only been lightly used and very well cared for. This Edward Barder (Bernard Venables) landing net and handle, dating to around 2004, is a superb example of traditional craftsmanship, complete with its handmade protective bag.

The flamed Tonkin bamboo whole cane handle measures approximately 72″ and is fitted with quality brass fittings, with the Edward Barder maker’s logo neatly stamped to one end and finished with a black rubber button at the base. The handle presents beautifully, showing only minimal signs of careful use.

The net head is equally impressive, as you would expect, and reflects the influence of classic Bernard Venables design. It is fitted with a knotless sewn-in net and a solid Y-shaped brass spreader block, again crisply stamped with the maker’s details. The classic teardrop-style head measures approximately 20″ x 26″ and balances perfectly with the cane handle.

Edward Barder is widely regarded as one of the finest modern British makers of traditional rods and angling accessories, with strong links to the heritage and design principles championed by Bernard Venables. Landing nets of this quality are increasingly sought after, valued both for their practicality on the bank and their appeal to collectors of fine traditional tackle.

A superb, lightly used example that would sit comfortably in a high-quality traditional tackle collection, while remaining perfectly suited for sympathetic use by the discerning angler.
