Volunteers at Oxfam Marylebone uncovered some solid gold treasure at the shop. They patiently watched and waited as the price of gold rose… then sold it for an incredible £1,850! 🥇

Absolutely IN-LOVE with these crochet bags, created and donated by shop manager, Morgan 🤩

"I've been crocheting for a few years and I love trying out new patterns, yarn and colour combos, but there's only so much stuff one person (and all their friends and relatives) needs. Luckily I manage the Bristol Online Shop so it's great to be able to make whatever my heart desires and then raise some money for Oxfam!"

We think they'd be the perfect accessory this festival season 🙌 available to shop now - https://bit.ly/4mczvG0

The UK Government has announced devastating plans to make deep cuts to the aid budget - from 0.5% to 0.3% of national income – claiming it’s a choice between defence spending or humanitarian aid. There are other ways to do this.

📢 They do not need to take away from the world’s most vulnerable people.
They could instead decide to raise more money from those who can afford it. A tax of just 2% on wealth over £10 million, would raise at least £24 billion every year.

This is Joe Mitty “the grandfather of charity shops”. His motto was “If you donate it, we can sell it” and he turned a single Oxfam shop into a nationwide network, powered by thousands of incredible volunteers. Joe received an MBE, and a Pride of Britain award, which he dedicated to Oxfam shop volunteers – of whom he said:

"Volunteers were the bedrock of the organisation and still are the most important ingredient in the fabric of Oxfam. They offer diversity of opinion, of talent and goodwill. They truly are ambassadors in the best possible way"

Joe died on 30 September 2007, but his entrepreneurial spirit and passion for fighting inequality and injustice in the world live on through his legacy in every one of Oxfam's high street shops. 💚
