Thank you to whoever reported us to the RSPCA (England & Wales) 🐢🦜
We wanted to say a genuine thank you to the person who recently raised a concern with the RSPCA (England & Wales) about our animals. If you ever have a welfare concern about any animal, this is exactly what should happen — and we're glad it did.
It was reported that our cockatoo was being neglected and that our tortoise was being kept in a "concrete box." The RSPCA officers who visited were more than happy with both. Toni, our resident cockatoo, is a bit of a plucker — but that's due to stress from where she lived before, we rehomed her here a few years ago, not anything happening now. Thor, our Giant Tortoise, has a spacious paddock; while it isn't grassy at the minute (but where is), he has plenty of hay and everything he needs.
The officers also commented on how clean, happy and healthy all our other animals looked, which is great to hear.
We've always welcomed feedback from visitors, and we're proud that on the occasions the RSPCA and other animal charities have visited over the years, they've been happy with the care our animals receive. Our animals' welfare will always come first, and checks like this help reassure everyone — visitors and us included — that we're getting it right.
