How did our brands look in the 1980s?

A look back through the archives of some of The Sporting Lodge’s most enduring names - from Barbour’s waxed jackets, Land Rovers and British countryside imagery to Patagonia’s bold fleece, climbing culture and technical colour. Fjällräven brought Scandinavian function to a wider audience, Filson and Red Wing stayed rooted in hard-wearing American workwear, while Ralph Lauren blended British country style with an unmistakably American point of view. And in 1985, Sunspel found itself at the centre of one of the decade’s most memorable menswear moments, when Nick Kamen appeared in the iconic Levi’ “Launderette” advert wearing a pair of white Sunspel boxer shorts.
