Why can the same crystal look like a completely different colour depending on how you view it? šŸ‘€

Itā€™s called pleochroism, which is a property seen in minerals including Imperial Topaz and emerald, where different colours can appear depending on viewing direction and light.

Much easier to understand when you actually see it happen.

15 million years ago, an extraterrestrial impact hit Europe so violently that terrestrial material was melted, thrown hundreds of kilometres through the atmosphereā€¦ and fell back over what is now Czechia as Moldavite.

It effectively rained natural green glass.
