Here are a couple of historic violin cases:

The first is made by W.E. Hill and Sons circa 1900 from English Oak and previously belonged to a serious professional violinist. It’s amazing to find one like this in such good condition. It had previously been inside an old canvas cover which has clearly protected the outside of the case. Price £100.00

The second was made in Mirecourt in eastern France in the factory of Jerome Thibouville-Lamy. This probably dates from 1880 – 1900. (see photo)
This case has the JTL label attached both inside and on the outside of the case.
Price £50.00

Finally, there is a Neapolitan mandoline circa 1900 needs new strings etc.

Cellos - Bargains Galore!

There are 4 x ¾ size, 3 x ½ size, 1 x ¼ size ex hire cellos most of which are very tidy. All of these have been set up by myself and are ready to play.
Each comes with bow and padded cover all at £100.00 each to get them cleared.

There are also approx 40 ex hire cellos not set up, ¾, 1/2 , ¼, 1/8, 1/10 sizes.
Some with fittings and some not.
These are available now at £20.00 each to clear.

Also there are 4 remaining 4/4 size cellos and 2 x ¾ size cellos all now Half Price!

Here’s another one:

A 22 string “Clarsach” Celtic Harp made from Maple wood.
All in good shape but for some missing strings.
It comes with a green zip up canvas cover and a tuning key.

I don’t now have the time to buy and fit new strings hence only asking £150.00 for it as it is.

Another update:

Amongst the curiosities I have found whilst clearing stock from my workshop is a German Bowed Zither made in 1900 by Franz Xaver Kerschensteiner.
It is beautifully made and has it’s original label inside. £400.00

James Powell Violins Ltd.

I have lots of violins mostly 3/4, ½, ¼, 1/8, 1/10 sizes which I never had time to restore set up etc. if someone is interested in a project. See photos.

These are mostly Chinese (but not all). 41 violins @ £1.00 each £41.00 in total

There are also 9 x ¾ size and 7 x ½ size German/European early to mid 20th.c violins @ £5.00 each £80.00 total.

These need to be sold in 2 lots (not as individual violins).

1 box of 50 assorted used violin/viola tailpieces various sizes £10.00 for the lot.

There are also bundles of violin, viola and cello bows in various sizes approx 150 bows in total. £50.00 for the whole lot.

There are many ex hire cellos each comes with a bow and a padded cover £100.00 each
These are all set up and ready to play.

Latest update is: James is recovering well and will be reopening on Tuesday 7th April. Everything has to go and James is keen to get this done quickly and wrap up the business. This really is your last chance to get yourself a violin, viola or cello from James. There are also many ex hire cellos to be sold too. Due to an ongoing health issue, James is not currently available. His return is now not expected before Tuesday 7th. April . If this changes we will update before. Thank you for your patience and understanding. James' final closure date will now be extended to get everything sold.
