A little life update from me

You may have noticed things have been a little quieter than usual here at Wonky Pheasant.

A little while ago I had a nasty fall and badly injured my foot. Since then it’s been a whirlwind of hospital visits, dressings, pain, and being told to stay off my feet. It’s meant I’ve had to cancel markets, pause new ideas, and spend much more time resting than creating.

As frustrating as it’s been, it’s also been a reminder that our health has to come first. Sometimes life forces us to slow down, and if your body is telling you it needs to rest, please listen to it. Your work, your to-do list, and everything else can wait.

So with saying this I’ve decided to take August and part of September to focus on healing properly and catching myself up ready for the busy period coming up. The website will remain open, and I’ll still do my best to share updates.

Thank you so much for your patience, kindness, and continued support of my little business. I can’t wait to get back to it.

Lastly I’m also incredibly grateful for my wonderful family, who have helped me recover and looked after my little girl while I’ve been off my feet. I honestly couldn’t have done it without them.

Ash 💚

I’ve been experimenting with new ways to showcase my feather artwork, and I’m really pleased with how this one has turned out.

Three handcrafted feather silhouettes brought together in one beautifully framed piece. Made using real game bird feathers and finished in an oak style frame.

I’d genuinely love to know what you think. Is this something you’d like to see more of?

A little throwback to a custom order I completed a few weeks ago that I completely forgot to share!

This lovely customer (Thepaddocks ) first came across my stand at Attleborough Hall Farm and ordered two pieces of artwork to hang in her living room. A few months later, she came back to see me and spotted one of my horse feather artworks. After a little encouragement from the wonderful Tiff Thirty 6 Scents 🕊️ (who was definitely my biggest salesperson that day! 😂), she asked if I could create something similar featuring her own four horses.

After she sent me photos of each horse, I carefully traced their individual facial markings so each silhouette was unique and instantly recognisable before filling them with hand-selected game bird feathers. I love being able to include those little details that make each piece so personal.

Alongside the horse artwork, I also created a personalised house name piece, making the whole commission even more special.

These are the kinds of commissions I absolutely love creating. Taking an idea and turning it into something meaningful that celebrates the animals, homes and memories that mean so much to someone is such a privilege.

If you’ve been thinking about commissioning a bespoke piece of feather artwork, I’d love to hear your ideas. ❤️

A few weeks ago, I was asked to create something a little different from my usual work.

Merry got in touch after seeing the feather buttonholes I’d made previously and wondered if I could create something similar for her wedding cake decorations.

She chose to add some jay and duck feathers to bring beautiful blue tones into the design to match her wedding colours, along with guinea fowl feathers, which held a sentimental meaning for her family. Knowing there was such a personal story behind the design made creating this piece even more meaningful.

I absolutely loved making these. They really challenged my skills, and seeing them displayed on the finished cake made all the hard work worthwhile.

The stunning cake was beautifully created by the talented Nadine, and the first photo was captured by the equally talented Scott. (Scott Stygall )

What do you think? Is this something you’d consider for your own wedding or special celebration? 💙

Let me know in the comments your plans for the weekend are as I think I might just stay in and catch up with some market prep 😅

This custom piece was created for Taylor, the owner of fettle He reached out to me after visiting my stand at Daisy’s Milkshed. Having already purchased two of my pieces, he spotted the artwork I had created using my own logo and asked if I could create something similar for him.

Using carefully selected game bird feathers, I created this artwork featuring his dogs and the Fettle brand name, beautifully framed and ready to hang in his office.

One of my favourite things about creating custom artwork is bringing an idea to life and turning it into something completely unique. Whether it’s your dogs, a house name, family name, business logo, favourite place, or something with special meaning, I love working with customers to create a piece that’s personal to them.

If you’ve got an idea in mind, feel free to send me a message and let’s see what we can create together.
