I find it hard to believe in myself and have massive imposter syndrome but tbh taking stock of the stuff I’ve done over the last year has really helped me to bring myself to a headspace of being able to be proud of myself. I’ve not done as much creative stuff as I wanted to yet this year, but LOOK HOW MUCH I HAVE DONE?! 🥹🥹🥹 and in spite of everything that’s happened in my personal life this year.

My first real love in crafting was fibre arts…Curiosity Cabinet Creations was started as primary a fibre arts business - this fibre arts week I wanted to post something to celebrate my love for thread painting, embroidery, multimedia textile fun and fine arts.
I think about how fibre arts have been more important to me throughout my life than I’ve realised - I have always been a tactile person, from youth. I loved the rich fabrics in my relatives houses growing up and was fascinated by the watching my auntie doing fibre crafts like quilt making, crochet and knitting. I got into fashion during my teens and early 20s and especially rich and uniquely fabricated fashions.
I continue to learn and grow in fibre arts - I’m draw to them like a moth to a flame, and do believe they are a big part of my future as an artist.
Most importantly, fibre arts make me happy. They are things I can be proud of when they are done where sometimes I cannot feel that with other parts of my creativity.

A few years ago I made some of these little multimedia hoop arts - I am going to make more this year - but fun fact about these, they’re inspired by The Worst Witch (1998 series). First years at Cackles Academy wear a purple sash belt - so the background fabric HAD to be that colour.
I’ve really been enjoying Cackle's After Dark - Worst Witch Nostalgia Podcast and starting my annual rewatch of The Worst Witch ahead of P***y Night (IT WAS HALLOWEEN MISS DRILL, THERE WERE PLENTY OF WITCHES ABOUT). 🎃🎃🎃 cozy crafts and cozy shows are one of my favourite ways to get into the spooky autumnal mood! 🖤 onwards ever striving onwards!

People are gonna tell you that you’re not a real artist because you don’t have a degree in art or design, or they try to make you feel bad for using certain mediums or make you feel bad for the way your art output doesn’t feel like part of the same brand or every piece is a different style or whatever.
Let them. Make the art, however you wanna make the art, anyway.
I struggle all the time to call myself an artist for all of the above reasons but I am going to try and be more confident in standing confidently in my own creativity. 👁️👄👁️🌈👒🦩🦚
