Just a little bit of a business update from me and Adele-icious Bakes š§š¤
Iām honestly debating starting to take either a deposit or full payment upfront when orders are placed (obviously excluding friends and family).
The reason being, I had someone order an old school tray bake towards the end of last week to collect this afternoon. We had quite a few messages back and forth when she ordered and everything seemed genuine, so I was planning on buying all the ingredients and baking it last night ready for collection today.
Iāve messaged a few times since Monday just to check that she still wanted it and was definitely collecting today, as I didnāt want to buy everything and bake it if the order was no longer needed. Unfortunately, my messages havenāt even been read and Iāve had no reply.
I completely understand that things happen and people can change their minds, but as Iām only a small home baker, buying ingredients and putting time aside to make an order does cost me money and time.
I hate having to put things like this in place because I want ordering from me to be as easy and relaxed as possible, but I also need to make sure Iām not left out of pocket.
So Iām thinking of introducing a 50% deposit to secure orders, with the rest due on collection. That way I know an order is definitely wanted before I go out and buy everything and spend my evening baking it.
I really hope everyone understands ā¤ļø Iām so grateful for every single person who orders from me and supports my little baking business. It genuinely means so much! š„¹š§š
