Grapes Hill Community Garden, Norwich A small garden near Norwich city centre, used by the local community to grow vegetables, fruit, ornamentals and herbs. Open to all every day from 9am.

Closes 8pm (May - Aug), 6pm (March, April, Sept, Oct), 4.30pm / dusk (Nov - Feb). The garden is tucked away behind the St Benedict’s View business units at the bottom of Grapes Hill. Not far from the Reindeer Pub, 10, Dereham Road. It is open everyday from 9am until dusk and anyone can enjoy this community space free of charge. It is a mainly edible garden with trees, fruits, flowers, herbs and ev

en some beautiful community art. It hosts affordable courses and workshops, in the garden, often with free or subsidised places. The Grapes Hill Community Garden Group runs several events during the year including live music, nature themed events, hawk and owl displays, theatre, poetry, concerts, community picnics etc. Volunteers and members maintain the garden on Wednesdays and Sundays (times to be confirmed). You can rent raised beds to grow your own vegtables on an annual basis from as little as £5 a year. Membership is optional – it just helps raise funds to keep the garden going for the whole community! Membership from as little as £3 a year. And this week we have Tai Chi on Saturday 2:30-3:30pm - just turn up to practise this with Majeed in the outdoors

Sunday 1-4pm we'll be gardening - no need to be experienced or bring anything but yourself.

As part of this we have a family garden club from 2-3 pm come along with little ones for our free family garden club. Each session there will be a simple craft activity and some garden tasks. All children to be accompanied by a responsible adult. Booking essential email [email protected]

Did you know that Lavender & Rosemary are both part of the Mint Family, that Foxgloves belong to the Plantain Family & Strawberries are part of the Rose Family?

We shall be playing The Flower Family game, Fungi Top Trumps and more. Filling our brains with fabulous nature themed facts in a very enjoyable way, at our free Games group at the Community Garden 4-6pm after the Volunteer gardening group 2-4pm today (Weds 19th), which you are very welcome to join us at too 😎 🍄 🌻

This week in the garden is another busy one.

Lovely Tai Chi on Saturday 2:30-3:30 - just turn up to practise this grounding practise in our oasis

Monday 5:30-7 is Acoustic Jam. We'll be playing some easy songs from our song book (tinyurl.com/ghcgacoustic) and also sharing our own favourites. Bring your voice. instrument. (we may be in Temple Bar, by Catholic Cathedral if wet)

Wednesday 2-4 is our weekly gardening session - we'd love to see you whether you're a beginner or regular gardener
Followed by Board Games 4-6 (if wet, we might be in Cloud Cafe, just round the corner on Dereham Rd)

Majeed is back with his moving meditation tomorrow at 2:30 - just turn up for some Tai Chi in the garden

Sunday is our volunteer gardening session 1-4pm with our Head Gardener Jo running a Plant Dye Exploration workshop from 2pm. We will be using kit kindly lent to us by Waterloo Park Weavers and Dyers and plants from the garden to make dyes. Please book your spot: [email protected]

And our weekly volunteer gardening session is on Wednesday 2-4pm. Just turn up - we'd love to see you and help you connect to nature under the guidance of our gardeners.

Some photos from the Permaculture Projects stall at at the weekend. Nettle cordage is always popular as was seed bomb making, lavender bag making, plant propagation and plenty of conversations about sustainable living. No Tai Chi tomorrow afternoon (1st August)
We'll be at Norfolk Green Care Festival Showcase at The Walled Garden 11-3 at the lovely Do pop along if you're interested in green care - connections to nature.

In the garden this week:
