Welcome to new followers
Realised I haven't shown my face on here before, probably because I hate having my photo taken.
Just wanted to pop on to show you the face behind the art. I'm Heidi, an illustrator/maker from Norwich, almost 55 years old and mother to to 2 teenage daughters. My love of art started when I could hold a pencil, always illustrating stories I wrote as a child. I also loved making, either from old bits of packaging or scraps of fabric from my mother's offcuts (my love of sewing came from my Mum's talents as a dressmaker). My love of art grew all the way through school where I often painted posters for teachers, made masks for school plays and won various art competitions along the way. I was also a member of the local embroidery guild. So it came to no surprise I chose to go to art college from school, a BTEC in Textile Design, a degree in Crafts (Ceramics and Textiles) then a Masters in Communication design (illustration). My life has had lots of twists and turns (one, an opportunity to work in NY that fell through because of 9/11). After living in London for 6 years I moved back to Norfolk temporarily, here I am 30 years later! After raising my family and making for Craft fairs when my chikdren were young, and working freelance as a sewing Tutor for the Workers Education Association I'm now commiting more time to the life-long love of my life art- designing and making.
Fun fact....one of pieces of art was bought by The Wellcome Collection for their private collection and was displayed for 12 years in their Medicine Now gallery in Euston Square, London.
