New images added Hobby Master HA5417 AT-38B “LIFT Trainer” 63-8172, 479 TTW, USAF, 1980s (w/SUU-11B gun pod). Pre-orders for this 1:72 scale model are being taken at £59.95.

The AT-38B Talon is a supersonic advanced trainer used by the US Air Force as part of its Lead In Fighter Training, or LIFT, program. Derived from the T-38A, the AT-38B was modified for tactical instruction with a strengthened wing, underwing pylons, and a gunsight system. It allowed student pilots to practice air to ground attack, air combat maneuvering, and formation tactics at high speed before transitioning to frontline fighters such as the F-4, F-15, and F-16. The AT-38B played a key role in bridging basic jet training and operational fighter aircraft.

Northrop AT-38B Talon

Designed as a supersonic jet trainer to replace the T-33, the T-38 was based on the F-5 Freedom Fighter airframe and was first flown on March 10th, 1959. The pressurized tandem-seat cockpit offers excellent visibility for both student and instructor and provides a comfortable training environment. Being both lightweight and nimble, the T-38 is used extensively to prepare military pilots for high performance jet aircraft and has earned the nickname “White Rocket”. The T-38 was famously flown by the USAF Thunderbirds air demonstration squadron during the 1970s and proved popular with NASA who use it as an astronaut trainer and chase-plane.

New images added Hobby Master HA3390 RF-5E Tiger Eye 11420, Edwards AFB, Jan 1979. Pre-orders for this 1:72 scale model are being taken at £61.95.

USAF RF-5E serial 71-1420 operated at Edwards Air Force Base in January 1979 as part of flight test and evaluation activities. The RF-5E was a reconnaissance variant of the F-5E Tiger II, equipped with cameras in the nose for tactical imagery collection. At Edwards, the aircraft was used to support testing of sensors, reconnaissance systems, and operational concepts. Its small size, speed, and reliability made it well suited for evaluation work and training support. Aircraft 71-1420 contributed to refining reconnaissance techniques and equipment during a period of continued development in tactical intelligence gathering.

Northrop RF-5E Tigereye

Designed partly to meet a US Navy requirement for a low-cost, low-maintenance fighter to operate from Es**rt Carriers, the F-5 first flew on July 30, 1959. Development of the F-5 continued even after the Navy withdrew its Es**rt Carriers, and the aircraft eventually evolved into the light, supersonic “Freedom Fighter,” serving US allies during the Cold War and as a supersonic trainer in the US. The second-generation F-5 (“Tiger II”) also served US allies, but because it was small and maneuverable like a MiG it was also used by the US military as a training and “aggressor” aircraft, acting as the opposing force during military wargames

New images added Hobby Master HA38077 F-16C “J-20 Aggressor (concept scheme)” 706th Aggressor Squadron, USAF. Pre-orders for this 1:72 scale model are being taken at £71.95.

The 706th Aggressor Squadron is assigned to the 926th Wing at Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada. It flies the F-16C Fighting Falcon aircraft, painted in camouflage schemes identical to those observed on Russian-manufactured aircraft, providing Air Combat Maneuvering training to USAF and other aviation forces in conjunction with Red Flag exercises. The purpose of the squadron is to teach adversarial tactics and provide dissimilar air combat training to US Air Force flying units.

Lockheed F-16C Fighting Falcon

Designed by General Dynamics as a lightweight, daytime USAF air-combat fighter, the F-16 was first flown on January 20th, 1974. This single-engine, supersonic aircraft has, over the years, evolved into a multirole aircraft. It has a frameless bubble canopy-giving its pilot superior visibility-and it uses advanced aerodynamics. The F-16 was one of the first designs to use a relaxed static stability/fly-by-wire system, which helps it pull 9-g maneuvers and achieve speeds of more than Mach 2. Called “Viper” by its pilots, the F-16 is considered one of the most successful aircraft designs of the Cold War, with 4,400+ aircraft built since 1976.

New images added Hobby Master HA9515 Su-30MKI ‘Iniochos 2025’ SB 131, India Air Force (w/Brahmos missile). Pre-orders for this 1:72 scale model are being taken at £91.95.

The Indian Air Force deployed Su-30MKI fighters to Exercise Iniochos 2025 in Greece, demonstrating advanced multirole capability and interoperability with NATO and allied air forces. The Su-30MKI is capable of carrying the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile, though such weapons are typically not carried during international exercises. During Iniochos, Indian crews focused on air combat, strike coordination, and complex mission scenarios alongside partner nations. The deployment highlighted the Su-30MKI’s long range, maneuverability, and sensor capability. Participation strengthened operational cooperation and showcased India’s ability to integrate advanced platforms into multinational air operations environments.

Sukhoi Su-30MKI Flanker-H

Designed as two-seat multi-role variant of the Su-27, the Su-30 was first flown (as the Su-27PU) on December 31, 1989. The design grew from a Soviet need for a long-range interceptor based on the Su-27 with the addition of a second pilot and retractable in-flight refuelling probe. Similar to the F-15E Strike Eagle, the Su-30 is still a highly capable Air Superiority Fighter while an advanced avionics suite make it formidable in the Air-to-Ground Strike Fighter role. The Su-30 has spawned numerous sub-variants, including several designed for the export market.

The Chinese Type 100 Support Vehicle is a modern support vehicle and support vehicle of the People's Liberation Army, developed alongside the new Type 100 main battle tank. It is presumably based on the same platform but is more heavily focused on reconnaissance, drone defense, electronic warfare, and supporting other vehicles. Instead of a large tank cannon, it likely possesses automatic weapons, guided missiles, and advanced sensor systems.

The Chinese ZRZ-100 UGCV (Unmanned Ground Combat Vehicle) is an unmanned combat vehicle developed as part of the new Type 100 combat system. It is intended to operate alongside manned tanks and perform tasks such as reconnaissance, fire support, drone defence, and high-risk incursions. The vehicle is presumably equipped with advanced sensors, thermal imaging, automatic target tracking, and remotely controlled weapon modules. With the ZRZ-100, China aims to build more automated and networked combat units in which manned and unmanned systems work closely together.

The Chinese "Robot Wolves" are advanced unmanned ground combat systems (UGVs) designed like four-legged robot dogs, operating in a group known as a "Wolf Pack." They were developed for urban warfare, reconnaissance, and infantry support. The systems can be equipped with cameras, thermal imaging sensors, AI-powered target recognition, and weapons such as machine guns, gr***de launchers, or small rockets. Different variants perform various tasks, such as reconnaissance, attack, or logistics. Their ability to share information and act in a coordinated manner as a swarm is particularly noteworthy. China views these Robot Wolves as a crucial component of future AI-supported and networked warfare.

Many technical details remain classified, but the vehicles are considered an important step toward AI-supported and digitally networked warfare.

Special Offer Corgi AA29402 Panavia Tornado GR1A, ZA371/C, RAF No.II (AC) Sq, Arctic Training Exercises, Norway Development, 1995 Model Plane. This 1:48 scale model WAS £174.95 – NOW £139.95. Stocks are limited.

Tracing its lineage back to the formation of the Royal Flying Corps at Farnborough in May 1912, No.II(AC) Squadron is the most senior squadron in the current Royal Air Force. It also has the honour of being the first fixed-wing aircraft unit anywhere in the world. The first British unit to cross the Channel to operate in France at the start of the Great War, ‘Shiny Two’ became specialist in the role of aerial Army cooperation flying, and aerial reconnaissance, something its pilots perfected throughout its long history.

The Unit served throughout the Cold War period, operating a variety of classic aircraft types, including the Hawker Hunter, McDonnell Douglas Phantom and SEPECAT Jaguar. It began an impressive 27-year association with the Panavia Tornado from the end of 1988, only broken when they exchanged their aircraft for Eurofighter Typhoons. During that period, the most strikingly presented Tornados were those benefitting from a temporary winter camouflage scheme in support of their deployment to Norway on Arctic operations.

These combined defence and readiness exercises saw various aircraft types from different nations regularly coming together to test their capabilities in meeting the threat posed by Eastern Bloc forces in the high north of Europe, a show of strength to deter any thoughts of aggression.

The GR.1A variant of the Tornado was a dedicated reconnaissance platform, made up of 16 converted GR.1 airframes and 14 newly constructed aircraft.

The T-28 was a super-heavy tank of the USA, designed to withstand German 88 mm armor with its up to 300 mm thick armor and engage heavy German tanks with its 105 mm gun. It reached a top speed of 13 km/h. It had four tracked running gears, the outer ones of which could be detached for rail transport. Due to its high weight of over 86 tons and its extreme width of 4.39 meters, it proved impractical for transport and combat, so only two prototypes were built. One prototype was damaged in a fire and subsequently scrapped; the other can still be seen in the USA today.

Since the tank never progressed beyond the prototype stage, the model presented here is a fictional variant, representing how it might have been deployed.
