Cannot wait to try these Dagger Sonic pickups out! They look incredible and are packaged in a nice wooden box. And I’m a sucker for a wooden box like the good old days of Electro Harmonix or Chase Bliss. An accurate recreation of the classic Dynasonic pickups. What’s not to love?

This is how I go about making my fret markers.

I’ve tried a few different methods, but I always come back to this one. It’s the least stressful approach for me. It isn’t the prettiest, but it works.

I use Apoxie Sculpt, which hardens after around 24 hours. I push it into the slots that I’ve cut on the CNC using whatever I can find that fits. Usually it’s a hair grip, as they seem to be readily available in every corner of our house!

Once every slot is filled, I leave it to harden before taking it to the router table to cut it to size, ready to glue onto the neck.

That’s always my favourite part of the process, as it’s the first time you get to see the side markers properly.

The beginnings of a Myna.
The CNC has done its job. Fret slots cut, truss rod channel done, and the body blank is ready.
From here on, it’s all hands on. Gluing, routing, carving, sanding, and slowly turning it into a guitar.

It was so nice to see this guitar again last week for Fret Fest UK - Norwich Guitar Show
While I’ve had it back I was asked to change it to B Standard. So, a little nut filing and a set of the Ariel Posen Stringjoy 14-62 and we’re good to go.
