Team Solutions - Great Nottingham Bike Ride

Team Solutions - Great Nottingham Bike Ride Solutions for Accounting are entering a team for the great Nottingham Bike Ride (GNBR). We hope that you follow us as we prepare for the ride

It doesn't seem that long ago when we were saying 100 days to go, now it is only 6. Unfortunately we can't book the weather but the whole team are ready. If any of you are involved in the ride please say hello, some of us will need some moral support.

All I can say to my team is good luck and enjoy the ride!

A great big thank you to everyone who has sponsored us so far. We have reached the £1000 landmark, although we still want to raise more money for Macmillan.

We all know that this will be a bike ride to remember. Judging by the number of people who have booked an easy day in the office the next day some of us are expecting to suffer.

Please help us raise money to make it all worth while.

Our cycling are back and branded, they will be on display at our Solutions Showcase tomorrow. We will look like a real team for the GNBR, Team Solutions. I don't think anyone riding in the Tour De France will be quivering in their cleats, well not this year at least.

If you would like to see the shirts and meet the team why not register for our customer day - http://www.solutionsforaccounting.co.uk/2015/03/solutions-showcase-set-to-be-out-of-this-world/ #.VT3raul0x_A

I have been waiting for the first cycling mishap to happen so that I can write something amusing and poke fun at one of our team. Unfortunately it doesn't seem so funny when it happens to yourself. As it was rather glorious this morning I thought to myself that there is no excuse for not getting out on the bike. I was enjoying my bike ride, this was until I pulled the front brake leaver and heard a metallic clang, as well as the bike pull over to one side. I have managed to break the spokes in the front wheel. Unfortunately I was cycling light, no phone and no money so it was a long walk home. My guess is that the local BMX track was not such a good idea last week, although it was great fun. So it looks like no cycling this week. Still at least this time I only have to take the wheels back to the shop.

It has just been pointed out to me that we have ONE HUNDRED days left to prepare for the Great Nottingham Bike Ride. This sounds like an eternity but I know how time flies. In no time at all we will be in the saddle cycling around Nottinghamshire. That reminds me, I must get back on track with my training (my bike will be going back to the shop again at the weekend as every time they fix it comes back broken), I will also see how everyone else is getting on with theirs. Hopefully with the lighter nights and warmer weather we will be cycling more.

Mark has been getting ready for the Great Nottingham Bike Ride, although as a typical bloke he has to have the boy's toys. As Mark has a young family he can't just go out on his bike whenever he wants. He has bought this so he can train in the few spare moments he has. Personally I love getting outside on two wheels but I have to admit that this contraption appeals to me as well. I know that he has also been working on his bike ready for the ride, although the extra pairs of little hands while trying to help are making the job take twice as long. Still, you shouldn't dampen enthusiasm for cycling especially for little ones. Who knows, maybe in a few years we will be struggling to keep up with them. With all the new bits Mark has bought I'm not sure how much of the original bike will be left when he has finished.

The cycling shirts have been delivered to the office. If we are riding as a team then we had better look like a team. The shirts are unbranded at the moment so we are trying them on for size before they are printed. The good news is that I am a size smaller than I was expecting, the bad news is that it shows my lumps and bumps. They are a nice material, a normal cotton top just won't do. There are also nice little pockets in the back, just the right size for an energy bar or two (and I have a feeling that we are going to eat a few of them). Can't wait to get them back and see what they look like.

I am delighted that so many of you have decided to follow our effort for the GNBR. I'm sure that when we wake up on a Sunday morning when it's cold outside and we would rather stay in bed that the thought of everyone supporting us will make us get the bike out of the shed and ride a few training miles. If you would like make a donation please find the link to our fundraising page below.

What have we signed ourselves up for?

Around half of the staff at Solutions for Accounting have decided to do the GNBR (Great Nottingham Bike Ride). Why? Madness, fun, teamship and to support Macmillan. One of our team has recently lost a dear friend to cancer (http://youtu.be/5FmDYaZ_qxQ). I know that some of us will suffer during the ride but this can't be compared to what Claire must have gone through and what her loved one's are still going through.

For those who do not know the GNBR has three distances, 25, 50 & 100 miles. We are riding a mixture of 25 & 50. For those of you who are serious cyclists this may not see far but some of our team have not been on a bike for years so we are being realistic. Everyone is determined to finish.

Anyway, I need to pump up my tyres up and oil my chain so please keep an eye on this page and watch the story unfold. I'm sure that this will be an experience.
