Having just now published a post on my Teika Marija Smits blog about what life has been like since closing the press, I thought that some of you may be interested in it (also, there'll be some Mother's Milk Books goodies in the giveaway in my upcoming newsletter...). There's been some sadness, of course, but mostly, the year has been very positive. And, hopefully, I'll still be seeing you some of you at upcoming events. 🙂

Good morning from a very windy Nottinghamshire! When I closed Mother's Milk Books I was really sad about having to let go of all the wonderful content on the website. But... thanks to my husband's help, several months of copying and pasting, much frustration and technical glitches, I've finally made the archived Mother's Milk Books website live so that information about the press, the books and the blog content is still available to all. Thank you again for your support, and I hope you're all doing as well as can be expected despite the challenges 2021 has already thrown at us. All the best, Teika x

'Janet' by Sheila Wild was the very deserving poem that won in the Mother's Milk Books Writing Prize 2015. It was first published in JUNO Magazine, who have been much-appreciated long-term supporters of the press, and then reprinted in the MMBooks Writing Prize anthology 'Love'. There are only a handful of copies left now (the half-price sale ends midnight this Friday and that will also be our very last day of trading... eek!).

Many congratulations to Rachel O'Leary from La Leche League Cambridge who is celebrating 40 years of being an LLL Leader breastfeeding counsellor! It was Rachel who welcomed me to my first ever meeting with my little daughter, and who gave me the confidence to mother her in the way that felt right to me. And she inspired me to get involved in the group and help other breastfeeding mums. I do believe that she greatly helped me to see the path through life that I wanted to journey down, but was, perhaps, a bit afraid of setting out on. My many, many thanks to you, Rachel! ❤️
