Tamarindus Indica (AKA Tamarind plant)
Yes, Tamarind as in the fruit! This may not bear fruits in the UK climate, but the plant itself is worth celebrating as a houseplant because the foliage is so gorgeous. So we're giving it some attention this June by making it our Plant of the Month
šNative to: Tropical Africa, but has been grown all around the world for centuries for its fruit
š±Growth habit: Upwards and branching, a small tree
šLight: A south-facing window is ideal, they like lots of light
š§Water: Water when the topsoil is dry, these are thirsty plants
š«ļøHumidity: Can tolerate average household humidity and dry air, but loves 50% and above
š”ļøTemperature: Keep in a warm space, away from draughts. Anything above 16ĀŗC is ideal
šŖ“Soil: Loose and well-draining, nothing too dense or chunky!
šFeed: A well-balanced houseplant fertiliser during the growing season
š©Pet safe? This is considered safe for pets unless large quanties are ingested
