Bookends Festival was born in 2016 with the help and support of friendly authors, the desperation to not to have to travel 100 miles for a literary event and a community which stepped up and said, “What do you need us to do?”

Just a reminder that Bookends hold their AGM on Monday August 3 (3 30pm) at the Benderloch Victory Hall following their monthly Pop-Up in the Reading Room. People and ideas are always welcome. Over 60 visitors enjoyed themselves at the Bookends event on July 3 at the Benderloch Victory Hall. The Reading Room was busy throughout the day and loads of books found new homes. Thanks as always to our wonderful Volunteers and to all those who rattled our donations box.

Bookends is a charity with a mission – to spread our love of books. We stage an event each month in the Benderloch Victory Hall’s Reading Room where hundreds of books are on display, waiting for new homes. Take as many as you like. Have a brew and a biscuit. All free. No Terms and Conditions. If you’re on holiday in the area, and the weather is a wee bit damp, well, you’d be most welcome. Our next event is Friday, July 3. See the poster for details.

Bookends enjoyed a highly successful May event with 74 visitors to the Reading Room of the Benderloch Victory Hall - our busiest day of the year so far. As well as the hundreds of books on the shelves, visitors were able to enjoy tea, coffee, biscuits and home-made fruit cake. Thanks to all our Volunteers.

One mum and her two young ones enjoyed the revamped Children's Corner at the Bookends' monthly event last Thursday, April 3. While those of a slightly older generation held an impromptu Knit and Natter half hour. All in all there was something for everyone in the relaxing atmosphere of the Reading Room at Benderloch's Victory Hall.

Friday April 3 is Jane Goodall Day, to commemorate a woman who inspired many millions by her work with wildlife, nature and communities. The idea is for everyone to 'Do Good All Day'. Bookends will mark it in our usual style with our monthly event at the Victory Hall, Benderloch (11am-4pm) where there's always a warm welcome. We're in the Reading Room with hundreds of books, a revamped children's corner, sofas and chairs, refreshments. All free. How good can it get?
