There is something very special about independent shops — especially the ones filled with creativity, colour, skill and heart.

Here in the Arcade, we’re lucky to have a lovely mix of independent businesses offering gifts, cards, handmade pieces, jewellery, art, craft, curiosities and those little “I wasn’t looking for this, but it’s perfect” finds.

As many of you may have seen, Moon & Moor Gallery will soon be moving on from the Arcade as Corrinne begins an exciting new chapter with her own jewellery atelier.

Moon & Moor has brought so much creativity, talent and individuality to the Arcade over the years, and we know many customers will be sad to see the gallery close here. We wish Corrinne and Olly every success with their next adventure in Chagford 🥰

And while it is always bittersweet to see a much-loved independent shop move on, it is also lovely to know that the Arcade’s creative story will continue.

A new independent creative shop Mariposa Creations Store will be opening in July, bringing handmade gifts, jewellery, workshops, art, craft and creative pieces into the space.

More details will follow soon, but for now we just wanted to celebrate the wonderful independent gift and craft shops already here in the Arcade — and say how lucky Okehampton is to have so much creativity tucked away in one place.

A little extra buzz around town this weekend as Ten Tors returns to Dartmoor ⛰️

We’re especially excited this year as two of our arcade shops have participants taking part — we’ll definitely be cheering them on from afar!

With all the recent conversations about shopping locally and the current road closures, we just wanted to gently remind everyone that Okehampton is very much open ✨

Tucked inside the beautiful Okehampton Victorian Arcade you’ll find a wonderful mix of independent shops – from fashion, gifts and homeware to cafés, services and specialist retailers – all run by passionate local business owners.

Yes, access might look a little different at the moment, but we’re still here, still trading, and always grateful for the continued support of our community.

✅Yes - we are just an average group of guys looking to get out of the house once or twice a month, do different things and escape from the pressures of everyday life!

❌No - there is no special criteria. Events are always affordable, and you don’t have to make every event.

✅ Yes - new members are always welcome. All men aged 18-45 can join. Events are midweek too, so they don’t clash with family time or other friendships.

❌No – It’s not just men, women can join our sister organisation here - There are over 40 clubs too - , 😀👍

✅Yes – we also give back to the community now and then and have a great laugh doing it.

Please take care while you’re out and about in the countryside during the Easter holidays 🌿

Due to the prolonged period of dry weather there is a high wildfire risk on Dartmoor.

Please don’t light BBQs or campfires. Glass, ci******es, and matches left on the ground can just as easily start a fire so please remember to take rubbish home with you.

Dry grass and gorse on the moors can very quickly catch fire and spread. Wildfires are devastating for the animals, habitats and people who live here 💚
