In 2022, Robbie and I (Lee) proudly relaunched Skip Model Designs with renewed energy and passion. Together, as a team, we introduced innovative construction techniques and design concepts to our existing & new models—striving to elevate every model we produced in terms of quality, fit and finish, ease of build, support, and unmatched flying performance.
We believe we met those goals. Over the past few years, we’ve shipped dozens of kits around the world, and we’re incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved as a small, dedicated team.
However, after much reflection, we’ve made the difficult decision to close Skip Model Designs as of today. Our final kit has been produced and is on its way to its new owner.
Much has changed for both Robbie and me since 2020. With young families and growing responsibilities, we no longer have the time required to run SMD at the level it demands. Rising material and shipping costs, coupled with the introduction of tariffs, have further impacted our ability to remain competitive in the market. Continuing simply isn’t viable.
We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to every single person who supported us over the past three years. Your enthusiasm, feedback, and love for our models meant the world to us. We hope your kits bring you joy for many years to come—just as we found joy in crafting them.
Support will continue to be available via email until the 16th of November and thereafter via our Facebook Builders Group, where I’ll still be active, alongside a talented group of builders who are always willing to help.
