If you’ve got a child who struggles at school
Or one who feels awkward, odd or uncool
Or maybe they’re shy but in need of attention
Or misunderstood, for their misapprehension
Maybe they’re bright, courageous and smart
Or a master of Science, or English and Art
You’ve needed a teacher to bring out their best
Be delightfully bright, academically blessed
To believe in your child and help them succeed
To know what they want but to give what they need
To nurture their talents, to help them be great
To listen, to teach, to help them create
A place they belong, to then make their own
Where school is a pleasure, a safe second home…
Those people are godsends, they’re special and rare
They work so damn hard and they really do care
They work all the hours, from morning to night
To stride through the darkness and turn on the light
To ignite in the brains of all that they teach
A power, a purpose, a goal they can reach
A hunger for learning, a pride in their work
To accept and embrace all their talents and quirks
To be bold and be brave and accept nothing less
Than all they can be, be better than best…
So if you know a teacher and this sounds like them
A great educator of young women and men
