Following our successful AMM today, a few things were highlighted that we’ll be working to resolve.

One of these was a lack of clarity around our Loyalty Card scheme, so we wanted to share all the information in one place. 💚

Our loyalty card is our way of saying thank you for shopping local and supporting Dobcross Village Store. Every time you use it, you earn points, plus you’ll have the chance to benefit from our monthly bonus and bi-annual hamper draws.

The image below explains everything you need to know, including how to join, earn and spend points, what happens if you forget or lose your card, and how your points can even be donated to support good causes.

We hope this clears things up, but if you have any questions, please just ask one of our team or volunteers in the shop. We’re always happy to help. 😊

💷 PAYING CASH? YOU’RE HELPING YOUR VILLAGE STORE! 💷

Did you know there’s a simple way you can help support Dobcross Village Store when doing your shopping?

🏤 Withdraw your cash from our Post Office counter
🛒 Then use that cash to pay for your shopping in the store

It’s a win-win for your local shop! ❤️

When you withdraw cash at our Post Office, we earn a small commission on the transaction. Then, by paying for your shopping in cash rather than by card, we also avoid the card processing fee.

So instead of us paying a fee to take your card payment, your cash withdrawal actually helps generate a little extra income for the shop.

It might only be a small amount each time, but across our wonderful village community, those little amounts really do add up.

Dobcross Village Store’s Annual Members’ Meeting (AMM) is taking place this Sunday, 13th September, from 1–3pm at Dobcross Band Club.

The Village Store belongs to the community, so come along and have your say, hear the latest updates and help shape its future. ❤️

Not a member yet? Come along and join as a member! It’s a great way to support the store and get involved in this important part of village life.

✨ This week at Dobcross Village Store… ✨

It’s been another busy week in the village store! 💚

🎨 We picked the winners of our colouring competition. A huge well done to Annie and Mya! We loved seeing all the brilliant entries, and choosing our winners wasn’t easy!

👑 Steve has only gone and done it AGAIN! He won our Members Draw for the THIRD time! 😂🏆
Remember, Loyalty Members can get a ticket for just £2. Surely someone can take Steve’s crown next time?! 👀🎟️

🐶 We also had the pleasure of meeting two gorgeous new puppies this week. It’s always a highlight when four-legged visitors pop in to say hello! 🐾

💚 We met the lovely Rashee from Tesco Greenfield, who very kindly brought along some treats for our volunteers.

🧹 And we finished off the week with a good cleaning session with some of our wonderful volunteers. A big thank you to everyone who mucked in and helped keep the store looking its best. 💚

❤️ Our village store really is a family affair! ❤️

Today, the next generation of our shop community got together for a very important meeting… otherwise known as a play date! 🥰

Our manager’s daughter, Olive, and one of our lovely volunteer’s daughters, Alice, have formed a little friendship through the shop and spent some quality time together today.

As well as carrying out their very important duties as Chief Squishy Testers 🧸😂, they made sure our Community Corner was very well utilised!

It’s lovely to see that our community owned shop isn’t just a place to pick up the essentials, it’s a place where friendships are made, families come together and our little community grows. ❤️

We think these two might be running the place one day! 😉

We’ve been listening to your feedback, and we’re trialling opening on Bank Holidays! 🙌

We’ll be open 8:30am – 11:30am for all your newspapers, milk and everyday essentials. 🥛📰

Please note: Shop only, the Post Office will be closed.

If there’s enough demand and it proves feasible, we’ll be happy to continue opening on future Bank Holidays.

🙌 Could YOU spare a little time for Dobcross Village Store?

Our community owned village shop is powered by a brilliant team of volunteers, and we’d love to welcome some new faces!

There are lots of ways you can get involved, including:

🛒 Stocking shelves
😊 Serving customers on the till
🧹 Helping keep the shop clean and tidy
✨ Merchandising and making our displays look great

And don’t worry if you don’t feel able to do all of those things!

You can simply become one of our ‘Helpers’, lending a hand with just one or two roles that you’re comfortable with. Every bit of help makes a difference.

Volunteering could be perfect for:

👨‍👩‍👧 Mums and dads with a little time between school drop-off and pick-up
🎓 University students wanting useful experience to add to their CV
💼 People who work but would enjoy a change of scene and some decompression time
🌱 Anyone looking for work who wants to keep active, meet people and gain experience
☕ Retired people who fancy getting out, having a chat and being part of village life

Our current volunteers are a wonderful mix of people, retired, working, looking for work and everything in between.

It’s fun, rewarding and sociable, it keeps the brain ticking over, and most importantly, you’ll be helping to support Dobcross and keep our community-owned village shop thriving. ❤️

A HUGE THANK YOU TO TIM

Following Tim’s successful life vs saving surgery, he has now officially retired, and quite rightly, it’s time for him to enjoy life! ❤️

The Dobcross Village Store Committee, the shop team and the whole village would like to say a massive THANK YOU to Tim for all his hard work, dedication and commitment in getting our community-owned shop off the ground.

Without his time, energy and determination, we wouldn’t be where we are today, and we’re incredibly grateful for everything he has done for the shop and our community. 🥰

We look forward to seeing Tim in the shop as a customer, enjoying a well-earned retirement, and hopefully, one day, as a volunteer too! 😉

Thank you for everything, Tim. You’ll be missed! ❤️
